These trucks were used by the Marines as front-line Ambulances in the Pacific during WW2. Developed for the Marines by International using downsized medium duty truck components from the K5 civilian truck lines. The M-1-4 and it’s big brothers, the M-2-4 and the M- 5H-6 were built at a time when procurement of Dodge and GMC trucks were locked by the US Army. The M-1-4 was built on a 113 inch wheelbase, early trucks had the 214 cubic inch Green Diamond engine, later trucks had the 233 cubic inch Green Dia- mond engine. The gear boxes were a Warner 4 speed, and on early trucks a Timken single-speed transfer case while later trucks had the 2 speed Timken transfer case. The M-1-4 had Eaton cast iron axle housings with drop out third members and a 4.875 to 1 gear ratio. Many believe the Internationals to be superior in many ways to the Dodge WC and the GMC CCKW. The final, final USS Iowa (408) 253-9469 open house happened – this reminds me of the Persian [email protected] Divisions 408 North & 650 rug store with annual “going out of business” sales. The last reschedule was to accommodate the EMU-309 heli- copter appearance which was delayed due to the Navy not signing the release document as planned. This was done East Bay VP Larry Pirack and the UH-1H landed on the helo deck with MVCCer (510) 522-6440 Randy Parent at the stick. I mean collective. Not only [email protected] that, the MVCC was well represented with Lee Edwards, Divisions 510 & 925 Ed Roberts, and myself as passengers! Thanks to Lee for helping make this operation happen. As of this writing we await the Iowa’s departure which was delayed due to high winds off the coast. The Marin Sonoma Concours d’Ele- MVCC Quartermaster, gance MV display went very well. See article. Sorry for the fine print – lots to say! The main point: biggest ever. JoAnn even had a wait list for dry campsites. We had more campers arriving earlier in the week and staying through Sunday this year. Several things contributed – interesting showcases, more and better national MV magazine ads, and great weather. Wish we had more campsites. Maybe the club should publish a service of helping campers with extra room find somebody to use part of their site and offset the cost. This is very doable in the new, extra long pull-through sites. Besides all of you who put out a lot of effort to get your MVs to the event, let’s thank: JoAnn Lesser for the big job of being our Spring camping interface with KOA Dave Aro for being the concept-man and POC of the successful Concours d’Eleguns that netted 38 entries! Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts and G503.com for sponsoring the People’s Choice prizes for the Concours Paul DeNubilo for being POC of the All IHC Motor Pool and to “Friends of Corn binders” for the cash awards, Michael Mackintosh and the Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance for sponsoring the Engineer & Work Trucks People’s Choice prizes Alan Ginos and the California Historical Artillery Society for the great Civil War mounted artillery display and Demos Paul DeNubilo, Dan and Mac McCluskey for their
