INTRODUCTION

Another 40 episodes, another “bonus book.”

We’re really moving now. Both us with the and – hopefully – you with your performance career. The hope is that you’ve been with us on this journey together, listening to the show and reading the previous three eBooks in this series. Both are meant to help you grow – on and off the stage – in what you’re doing as a musician, singer, songwriter – an entertainer!

In case you’ve just joined us, as they say in the broadcast world, the tips you’re about to read are the ‘Bonus’ given out in each episode of “Now Hear This Entertainment,” a (free) weekly podcast containing interviews with guests who are having success in entertainment. The host of the show, Bruce Wawrzyniak, is also president of Now Hear This, Inc., and so his tip each week/episode is drawn from his vast experience in the NHTE host Bruce business. Wawrzyniak Whether you’ve read Volumes 2 and 3 in the series or not, you’ll notice that in addition to the “Bonus” (the tip), we also provide you with additional insight aimed at helping you – something that the guest also said on the episode of the show that’s referenced at the top of the page.

We continue to recognize the struggle. Independent artists havea long list of challenges across various facets of their constantly evolving career. Through Now Hear This, Inc. as well as through the podcast, Bruce Wawrzyniak is on the front line, continually hearing from individuals just like you, telling him about the problems that they face and the help that they need. Those pain points are exactly what this book is aimed at. And there’s a continued recognition that, just like the price of this eBook, the solutions have to come with little, if any cost. Throughout the following pages you’ll find that the help that is given can be put into practice right away, not once you get a loan or sell lots and lots of CDs or downloads.

Since you pack a lot of equipment to haul around, you’ll find this resource helpful in being electronic, so that you don’t have to tote one more item around. As American Express used to say, “Don’t leave home without it.” Take advantage of the topical index too (page 3)!

If you haven’t heard “Now Hear This Entertainment,” jump in with both feet now. It can be heard at www.NHTE.net, plus there are links there to get it instead from iTunes, Google Play Music, Stitcher Radio, SoundCloud, and TuneIn Radio. The show has gotten listeners from 125 countries, spanning all five regions of the world (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania). Here’s hoping you’re one of them.

Enjoy the book!

Bruce’s Bonus from this episode: Be careful with pinning a tweet or a Facebook post. For openers, you could end up forgetting that it’s sitting up there. Perhaps more importantly, if someone sees it and doesn’t realize it’s a pinned post, if it’s up there a while they might think, “Wow, this person hasn’t posted anything in quite a while.” If you insist on doing it – and I’m not saying you shouldn’t – set a calendar reminder of when to take it down.

This guest said:

“One of the things I’ve always enjoyed doing is going somewhere else and playing with local musicians and meeting musicians, and just going with myself and my acoustic guitar and meeting people and putting a band together and doing some jamming. And the way they, culturally, look at their music, the way they deal with my songs then changes me.”
