Spring Convocation 2007 Celebrating achievement A Convocation procession wends its way towards the Administration building, May 1928. A-1666 University of Saskatchewan 3 Spring Convocation 2007 The graduation lists shown in this program were prepared prior to Convocation and may not reflect final college decisions regarding each student’s eligibility for graduation. As a result, some of the students listed in this program may not have been formally approved to receive the degree or diploma indicated. The Registrar maintains the official list of graduates. All photos are from University Archives, unless otherwise noted. President’s Message PETER MacKINNON I want to express a very warm welcome to the graduates, families and friends who join us today. Convocation is the University’s most important ceremony, for it is here that we celebrate the accomplishments of our students and the contributions of their loved ones to their success. You should be proud of this day and of the commitment and sacrifice that it represents. In this our Centennial year, we at the University of Saskatchewan are especially proud of our accomplishments over the past 100 years, and it is thanks in large part to you, our students, who have helped us to achieve our goal of building a world- class institution of higher learning. As we celebrate our successes with pride and anticipate our future with excitement, the University of Saskatchewan is ready to expand on the original vision of our founders. Our mission now is to engage fully in all we do, to enlighten all we serve, and to explore all aspects of our world. -

Magill History
MAGILL METHODIST - UNITING CHURCH 1855 - 1990 MAGILL METHODIST - UNITING CHURCH 26 Chapel Street Magill 1855 – 1990 Magill Methodist Church - 1960 Compiled by Olive Walton for the Morialta Uniting Church Archives Copyright Morialta Uniting Church Archives Published by Morialta Uniting Church 26 Chapel Street MAGILL SA 5072 1998 FOREWORD Church historians of the future will have cause to be deeply grateful to Olive Walton. It was providential that at a time when the stream of its life was to change course and burst out into an entirely new confluence there was in the Magill congregation a person who recognised the importance of tracing the stream to its source and identifying the many tributaries that had fed into it or the well-springs that had been watered by it, before all became lost in a landscape eroded by time and the winds of change. Regrettably, this had already occurred to some extent. Records kept by some organisations had become lost. In other cases records had never been kept. The chronicler had to rely upon oral tradition, the few repositories of which were themselves somewhat hazy as to what occurred when, and the people who were involved at the time. This combination of factors accounts for gaps and omissions in the following material, some information in respect of which, it is hoped, may yet be provided by those who read it. Apart from Olive Walton's initiative and sense of urgency much of this material may have been lost for ever. Her enthusiasm provided a stimulus to other members of the congregation to become interested in the project and where that did not produce the appropriate responses she encouraged, cajoled and goaded us until they were forthcoming. -

Black Sticks Named for Oceania Olympic Qualifier in Hobart
21 September, 2011 Media release Black Sticks named for Oceania Olympic Qualifier in Hobart The Black Sticks national coaches have named their teams for the 2011 Oceania Olympic Qualifier to be played in Hobart from 6-9 October, 2011. The Oceania region has two Olympic allocations courtesy of world rankings for both men and women and with Fiji having pulled out it gives Australia and New Zealand automatic qualification to the London Olympics. The qualifier will now be a three test series between the two rival teams. The national coaches say the qualifier will be more about getting further test experience against Australia and gaining valuable world ranking points. Black Sticks Women’s coach Mark Hager has named an experienced team, selecting the same 18 players who beat Australia in pool play and went on to win bronze at the 2011 Champions Trophy in July in Amsterdam. “This will be a hard fought series against a top team - there is so much rivalry between these two sides. With us ranked sixth and Australia ranked seventh, we will need to win the series in order to hold our position,” says Hager. Black Sticks Men’s coach Shane McLeod has chosen a very experienced men’s team with players like Phil Burrows, Blair Hopping and Dean Couzins – all who rack up a total 730 test caps. This will be the opportunity to take on world champions Australia, which will be invaluable in their build up to the Champions Trophy being held at North Harbour in early December. “This Olympic qualifier forms a key component of our preparation towards Champions Trophy and will allow us to test our game against a world champion, gold medal team. -
