Mike Glavine – the two-time CAA Coach of the Year (2017, 2018), 2018 NEIBA (New HEAD COACH Northeastern (2015-present) England) Coach of the Year and 2018 ABCA/Diamond Northeast Region Coach of the ASSISTANT COACH Northeastern (2007-14) Year – enters his seventh season as head coach of the Northeastern baseball team and 15th season overall with the program. PLAYER Norfolk Tides (AAA, 2003-04) New York Mets (2003) Glavine led the Huskies to a final RPI ranking of No. 11 in 2020, before the season was Somerset Patriots (Indy, 2001-02) canceled due to the global pandemic Coronavirus. Baseball America did a vote by Richmond Braves (AAA, 2001) coaches around the country in April 2020 and Coach Glavine earned the fourth-most Greenville Braves (AA, 1999-00) votes as the ‘most underrated College Baseball Coach’ (story here). He earned his 150th Kinston Indians (A, 1998) win at Northeastern in a 10-0 victory over South Florida (2/22/20) as the Huskies picked Columbus RedStixx (A, 1996-97) up series wins against USF and Florida Atlantic before the season was halted. Burlington Indians (Rookie, 1995) Drafted by Cleveland Indians (1995, Rd. 22) Glavine has guided Northeastern to consecutive CAA regular-season titles during 2017 Northeastern (1992-95) and 2018 – the Huskies’ first within any conference since 2005 (America East). He has HONORS Two-time CAA Coach of the Year (2017, ‘18) also led the Huskies back to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2003, earning 2018 ABCA/Diamond Northeast Region COY an at-large bid during 2018 after winning a program record, 36 games, including the 2018 ECAC Coach of the Year program’s first three victories against the SEC, and attaining a top-40 RPI. 2018 NEIBA Coach of the Year Since Glavine took over the baseball program, the Huskies have won a program-best Overall CAA Postseason 173 games over a six-year stretch. The Huskies have never had a losing season inside 2015 25-30 14-10 (3rd) CAA 4th place (1-2) the CAA under Glavine’s guidance, and Cleveland Indians’ hurler Aaron Civale earned 2016 31-27 12-11 (5th) CAA 4th place (2-2) All-America honors in 2016. A total of 24 players have garnered all-league honors and NU 2017 29-25 16-7 (1st) CAA 3rd place (1-2) has never finished lower than fifth during Glavine’s tenure. 2018 36-21 17-6 (1st) CAA runner-up (3-2); NCAA Raleigh Regional (0-2) A native of Billerica, Mass., Glavine spent four years as a player at Northeastern and left 2019 28-29 12-12 (T-3rd) CAA 4th place (2-2) as one of the most prolific hitters in the Huskies’ history. Glavine graduated having hit 28 2020 10-5 0-0 Season canceled due to COVID-19 career home runs and accumulated 110 career RBIs, ranking him third and ninth at the 2021 14-6 3-0 - time, respectively, in school history. The left-handed slugger also walked 120 times during TOTAL 173-143 (.547) 74-46 (.618) his four seasons at NU, ranking him second all-time upon completing his final collegiate campaign.

After graduating from Northeastern, Glavine spent 10 seasons in professional baseball after being drafted by the Cleveland Indians during 1995, alternating between AA and AAA levels. During September 2003, the New York Mets called Glavine up to the major leagues, where he played with his older brother and MLB Hall of Famer, Tom. Glavine became the third Northeastern alumni to ever play in the major leagues, joining George Yankowski (1942, 1949) and Carlos Pena (2001-14). 2021 SEASON STATS
