As Joe Bertagna’s chief assistant, her primary responsibilities include the day-to-day operations of both the men’s and women’s leagues, along with the administration of the two championship tournaments, marketing and branding initiatives, and the licensing and sponsorship programs. Prior to her promotion, Wynters served Hockey East as Director of Marketing and Special Events from 2002-06. During Kathy’s tenure, the Hockey East corporate sponsorship program has grown to include several new partnerships. In ad- dition, the Hockey East licensing program has also expanded to include many new licensees, as well as increased revenues from licensed merchandise. Kathy has been instrumental in both the marketing efforts and logistical operations behind Hockey East’s special events, including three Frozen Fenway events and the many commemorative anniversary celebrations in both the men’s and women’s leagues. AFF Wynters was also the driving force behind the creation of both “Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer” and the Hockey East Kids’ Club. After seven seasons, the Skating Strides program has raised over $230,00 for breast cancer awareness and research, while at the same T time increased attendance at women’s hockey games and gave the student-athletes the opportunity to give back to the communities in which they study and play hockey. Boston College sophomore Alex Carpenter Karen Thatcher, PC F captured the award for her play during the 2012-13 season. 2005-06 Sadie Wright-Ward, UNH F Carpenter set new single-season Hockey East scoring record with 25 2006-07 Kelli Stack, BC F goals and 48 points in 21 games for the Eagles, averaging a league-best 2007-08 Dominique Thibault, UConn F 2.29 points per contest. Carpenter is the second 2012-13 Alex Carpenter, BC F rd Eagle to win the award, following three-time winner Kelli Stack in 2007, 2009 and 2011. A pioneer in women’s ice hockey, Granato had a legendary four-year career at Providence, establishing several scoring records for the Friars, including 139 goals over 99 career games. She captured ECAC Player of the Year honors in three consecutive years from 1991 to 1993, while leading the team to back-to-back conference titles in 1992 and 1993. A 15-year member of the U.S. Women’s National Team beginning in 1990, Granato is the program’s all-time scoring leader. She achieved international fame by captaining Team USA to the gold medal at the 1998 awa Olympic Winter Games.
