A. Situation Report

The flood situation is continued in Bihar state. Total 16 districts affected. As per News paper 87 peoples died and D M office, says that 72 died on till 16th August 2017. The affected districts are Purnea, , , , Madhepura, Supaul, East Champaran, West Champaran, , Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzzfarpur, Gopalganj, Sahrasa & Khagaria etc. The NDRF continued rescue work in wrost affected areas.

Total 110 blocks, 1151 villages, 73.449 Lakh population at the present time affected. The evacuated population is 274320, The government running relief camp 504, 116138 peoples have been sheltered in relief camps.

Currently the water is receding rapidly from the flood affected villages. Mostly flood victims have taken shelter on NH 57 and other Embankment with road side.

C. Humanitarian Response

There is no sufficient capacity of flood vicitims. There is big gaps in WASH, hygiene and nutritional Food and Shelter related support. They have provided to community only cholorine tablets and some general medicienes and they have also provided them small size non- durable tarpuline sheets. The government doing effective search and rescue works and they are doing some important works as follows:  The government doing excellent work in the flood affected areas and they have deployed 22 NDRF team with 100 boats, Army 8 teams with 80 boats and 2 Choppers, SDRF 22 teams with 82 boats.  The Governemnt started community kitchen  The government provided ready to eat food packets Chana, Chura, Ghur and polysheet.  The IAG-Bihar revising their resource mapping and prepared for response. The BIAG was conducted the planning meeting in Unicef Office Patana and discussed the overall scenario of disaster. The BIAG has formed 9 JRNA team for rapid assessment in wrost affected districts. The formed team will be move by 18th August for JRNA in districts. They will compile the presentation and present the JRNA finding on 23 August in Unicef office for immediate response planning, commintments of agnencies and finalization of working areas.

D. Immidiate need

 Medical health services  Safe drinking water through establishment of water purification plant, acessbility of Aquatab or chloriene tablets etc.  WASH Kit (Bucket with Lid, Plastic Mug, Sanitary Pad Bathing & Detergentsoaps)  Shelter kit (Ropes and Top, Bed sheet and ground sheets)  Ration for at least one week.
