However, students will need to show an IGO pass to travel at the concessionary (reduced) fare. If students do not have an IGO pass, they will have to pay a higher fare. Most of the journeys shown in this timetable are funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The majority of TfGM funded services charge a standard fare and also offer daily return tickets. In some cases, the return ticket can also be used for travel on other journeys which serve similar areas – even if it is provided by a different operator. On most services, students can also buy a weekly scholar’s ticket, which costs £7.60. These are ONLY valid on schooldays on school buses and are available from the bus driver on all services where they are applicable. To help the driver, please try to have the correct fare when buying your ticket. Carnet ticket (10 single trips) £10 – available to buy on the bus or at a TfGM Travel shop. A summary of fares and ticketing information on all school services included in this timetable can be found at https://www.tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/bus-school-bus-services There are also a small number of TfGM funded services where the operator sets the fares. You will need to check with the operator what fares are available. The IGO Pass All students between the ages of 11 and 16 need an IGO pass if they wish to travel at the concessionary (reduced fare) rate on buses. The IGO pass is like an ID card and proves that the student is aged 16 or under. It must be carried on all journeys and shown to the driver before paying the fare. The IGO pass costs £10 and can only be bought by students who live, or go to school in Greater Manchester. Alex gave an update on schemes that are currently on site: • Heatons Cycle Link- Path improvement works are underway on Nelstrop Road North until spring / summer, with signed diversions in place. • Bramhall Park to A6- Works to spring are focussed at the Bramhall Green Roundabout end of the route, the current works are on Fir Road and Bridge Lane • Offerton to Stockport- Works are underway in St Thomas’ Rec including path widening, resurfacing, realignment, signage and lighting. This is expected to be complete in spring. Works are underway to upgrade the crossing on Offerton Lane, until April. • • A555 Community Links- Works are underway to introduce a controlled crossing over Stanley Road at the junction with the A34, with connecting paths, for 6 weeks.

    Greater Manchester Green Belt: Additional Assessment of Sites Outside of the Green Belt Study Background In 2016, LUC was commissioned on behalf of the ten Greater Manchester Authorities by Manchester City Council to undertake an assessment of the Green Belt within Greater Manchester. The study provided an objective, evidence-based and independent assessment of how Manchester’s Green Belt contributes to the five purposes of Green Belt, as set out in paragraph 80 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (see Box 1 below). The original assessment also examined the performance of 58 potential additional areas of land that currently lie outside the Green Belt. Box 1: The purposes of Green Belt 1. To check the unrestricted sprawl of large built-up areas. 2. To prevent neighbouring towns merging into one another. 3. To assist in safeguarding the countryside from encroachment. 4. To preserve the setting and special character of historic towns. 5. To assist in urban regeneration, by encouraging the recycling of derelict and other urban land. In 2018, LUC were commissioned to undertake an assessment of 32 additional areas of land that do not lie within the Manchester Green Belt, to assess how they perform against the NPPF Green Belt purposes. The additional areas were identified by the authorities of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport and Wigan. The assessment was undertaken using the same assessment methodology used for the 2016 study which is detailed in Chapter 3 of the Greater Manchester Green Belt Assessment (July 2016). This methodology is not repeated here but as per the original study it involved both a desked based assessment and field visits to all of the areas of land.
