Baku, “Tahsil”, 2006. 0000000 0 000000 © “Tahsil”, 2006. - 2 - THE MODERN VANDALISM OR GENOCIDE AGAINST THE HISTORICAL NAMES The Armenian nationalists are going on falsifying the his- torical past of South Caucasus before the eyes of world commu- nity. Recently (23.01.2006) – Chairman of State Cadastre Committee for Immovable Property under the Armenian gov- ernment Manuk Vardanian reporting before journalists informed that the first national atlas of Armenia will be published soon. As he informed about 40.000 geographical denomina- tions will be fixed on this atlas, and 8.000 – 10.000 names be- longing to other languages will be changed and substituted by the Armenian ones. Those 8-10.000 place – names “belong- ing to other languages” as stated M.Vardanian belong just to Azerbaijanis who have been deported from those lands shown on the atlas (http://newsarmenia.ru/arm1/20060123/41528686.html). … The fact that the Armenians are not the aborigines in South Caucasus is well known in the science. The historical truth is that they are alien ethnos in South Caucasus. The re- searchers basing upon the primary sources had proved it long ago. The tribes considered to be Armenians’ ancestors had ar- rived in the upper lands of the river Euphrates roughly in the mid of the 1 millennium B.C. They had come there from Balkan Peninsula. The Azerbaijanis’ ancestors had formed a high culture in a vast region including South Caucasus before the Armenians ar- - 3 - rived in Asia. They created Manna and Athropathena in the south of the river Araxes and a mighty state of Albania (Cauca- sus) in the north. The Azerbaijan state of Albania covered all the lands in the north of the river Araxes, the areas among the rivers Kura and Araxes including the historical Garabagh lands as well. Af- ter the fall of the state Albania in all historical periods all the Azerbaijani lands in the north of the river Araxes had been in- cluded either to Azerbaijani state, or different Turkic – Moslem Empires. Thus, in the territory of South Caucasus wasn’t any Armenian state until 1918. The historical reality and the truth maintained by the primary sources is so! The Armenian state being the main hotbed of tension in South Caucasus was founded quite recently – in the XIX century when the Russian Empire waged wars of aggression against Iran and Turkey intending to occupy the region. Aiming to have a reliable support in South Caucasus Russia made use of the Christian factor. With that end of view the Armenians were evicted in quantity from Iran and Turkey and moved to recently occupied North Azerbaijan, mainly to the lands of former Azer- baijanian state – the territories of Iravan, Nakhchivan and Gara- bagh khanates. The Emperor Nicolas I aiming to instigate the displaced Armenians against the native Turkish – Moslem popu- lation on March 21, 1828 – on the national holiday of Azerbai- janis signed a decree – at the expense of the Azerbaijani lands – the areas of Iravan and Nakhchivan khanates to create so called “Armenian province”. Armenians lived only in 62 villages out of 1111 included to newly formed “Armenian province”. But they were the Armenians moved there till 1828. To the point, the names of only 14 villages out of 62 were of Armenian origin. With the creation of the “Armenian province” began the ethnic cleaning of primordial Azerbaijani lands by the Armenians moved there by trarist Russia. Aiming to deprive the Azerbaijani people of their primordial lands a lot of deportations and geno- cide were realized. At the result the process of mass settling of - 4 - the Azerbaijani lands by Armenians was realized. In 1911 the Russian investigator N.Shavrov wrote: “More than 1.000.000 Armenians out of 1.300.000 living in South-Caucasus are not native. We have moved them there”. On May 29, 1918 Azerbaijan Democratic Republic for pacifying and making peace in South Caucasus ceded the city Irevan with the lands around to Armenians. So, due to Azerbai- jani lands for the first time in history was created the Armenian State. Since then the process of cleaning the Western Azerbai- jani lands from Azerbaijanis by Armenians with the help of Russia had speeded up, had been enlarged the areas where the Armenians moved to. During the rule of Bolshevik Russia this process was intensified. In 1988 was ended the deportation of Azerbaijanis from their ancestors lands – Western Azerbaijan (the territory of the present Republic of Armenia). You can’t find any Azerbaijani in these areas where the absolute majority of the population were Azerbaijanis in the near past – now the territory of the Armenian Republic. The Armenian nationalists who realized a lot of genocide and deportations against the Azerbaijanis in 1905-1906, 1918- 1920, 1948-1953, 1988 razed to the ground thousands of histori- cal monuments, rare material and spiritual values, mosques, minarets (mosque tower) and graveyards and created genocide against the historical denominations as well. Thousands of his- torical denominations were changed and Armenized at the result of continuous genocide created by the Armenian nationalists against the spiritual values belonging to Azerbaijanis in the terri- tory of Armenia (historical Western Azerbaijan). This book by the well known scientist – researcher Nazim Mistafa based just on the Armenian sources is a neat answer to modern vandals who have created genocide against the historical truth. The author basing upon the primary sources proves that in present day Armenia the process of changing the place-names of settlements and other toponyms belonging to Azerbaijanis for the first time began by the decision of the Armenian government - 5 - in 1919. After the establishment of the Soviet Power in Arme- nia, more than 190 place names were changed till 1935. The process of changing the historical place-names belonging to Azerbaijanis speeded up and got a mass scale the following years and in 1991 after the establishment of the Armenian Republic it ended in the whole. This book introduced to readers by Nazim Mustafa is mainly merited for that the work has been written basing just on the Armenian sources. Let those Western politicians who coming out from double standards defend the Armenian vandals get acguainted closely how the Armenian nationalists have falsified the history. May be then they will turn their faces to truth and call those with their true names who create a fictious history.
