Today, ticket sales start for Snälltåget's major investment in night train services between Sweden, Denmark and Germany in 2021. Snälltåget's new line Stockholm - Malmö - Copenhagen - Hamburg - Berlin will be the first night train services to operate on regularlybasis between Sweden, Denmark and Germany since the 1990s. The first train departs on March 27, 2021.
In June, July and August trains will depart from Stockholm and Berlin every day and in April, May and September twice a week. In total, the investment means almost a quadrupling of the number of departures compared to what Snälltågetoperated between Malmö and Berlin in 2019. In addition to the traffic in 2019, Stockholmand Copenhagen are now getting direct trains to Berlin and Hamburg. The price for a one-way ticket starts from 49€.
-It will be the first time a night train service will operate from Sweden to Germany via Denmark on regular basis since the 90s. It feels fantastic to be able to offer such a sustainable alternative to travelers. We have been operating night trains to Berlin since 2012 and believe in its potential despite the corona crisis. That is why we are investing in more departures and a completely new route for the Berlin night train service in 2021, says Carl Adam Holmberg, Head ofSnälltåget.
The night train service will offer salon seating coaches and 6 berth compartment coaches where passengers can socialize in the evening and then turn the seats into beds during the night. The coaches are equipped with AC and USB sockets. The restaurant coach "Krogen" offers passengers the possibility to get a good dinner between Stockholm and Malmö and vice versa. Between Malmö and Berlin and vice versa the Train attendant offers sandwiches, snacks, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages from the Service compartment. Travelers areoffered to buy a private compartment for 1-6 persons or a seat in the salon seating coach.
