June 15, 2018 Rogue Agent in all the right ways, this superb Star Wars Story may have been a big part of the franchise's legendary mythology running through its DNA, but its edgy design and execution speaks of a bold and exciting jump into a new hyperspace for the historical series. In this sci-fi adventure PG-13 daughter (Felicity Jones) imperial scientist (Mads Mikkelsen) joins the Rebel Alliance in a risky move to steal the Death Star's plans. Part sci-fi movie, part sequel, part war movie, part prequel, and part character-driven adventure, Rogue One has a lot of things to make many moviegoers, but the whole package turns out to be quite interesting, able to satisfy new fans, appeasing most longtime die-hards except for true curmudgeons. As the central plot includes a plan for the Death Star, a key plot point in the first act of Star Wars Episode IV since 1977, it's not a spoiler to say that the franchise's latest record results in the very same movie. He shares a lot with this vaunted classic, including characters (some favorite, some minor) and interconnected storylines (some kickass, some Easter eggs). In fact, he even spackles (fearing a deadly reaction, words to improve can be avoided) certain plotholes from the original trilogy and provides viewers across the line for a second trilogy. This mixing of the past, present and future is doing extremely well, especially given these strands never sacrifice the crackerjack standalone history at the heart of the film. Set during Imperial-Rebel Wartime, this Creatures-on-Mission film featuring a disparate group of humanoids, aliens and one hilariously sarcastic droid (think Dart-y Dozen). Although it's a one-off, it never feels completely alien from what it used to be. In fact, because the bridges of generations are so good, it feels Organically. Where Rogue One deftly diverges from the trilogy, however, regarding the presentation. The famous scroll at the beginning of all previous chapters gets nixed, as well as and dissolved that were nods to the golden age of H'Wood, which spawned Buck Rogers TV series, which in turn inspired Star Wars. At this stage, viewers know that everything old is new again (they see a companion piece of a 40-year-old cult film that digitally recreates the late Peter Cushing, for Chrissakes), and they don't have to look to the past any more than they are incredible. To that end, director Gareth Edwards (Monsters) uses a decent amount of portable in incorporating a more generic grittier style than the franchise has ever seen. Working on the story of John Noll and Gary Witt, screenwriters Chris Weitz (About the Boy) and Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton) weave in the list of fascinating characters who do not get a brief change of action and excitement around them. While Jones makes a fantastically solid lead, everything is worth it and delivers. Forest Whitaker, for example, gives an intriguing twist as Saw Herrera, a character first introduced in the animated Star Wars TV spin-off series, The Clone Wars. Again, we get a mix of old and new, with a new time very fresh performance. Perhaps more than any movie in the franchise, since Episode IV, Rogue One refreshingly inserts a more oriental philosophy into battle through the characters of Chirrut Imwe (a blind warrior who believes in the Force to hone and direct his hands, played by Donnie Yen), as well as Baze Malbus (a mercenary who was once the protector of a sacred temple, played by Wen Jiang). They also provide a lot of humorous moments that the often deadly serious film uses to the fullest. Indeed, the whole package is an oval mix - tone, genre, casting, and style... unlike a certain iconic film 41 years ago in a distant galaxy. To Sum It All Up: One for the Ages on July 23, 2017. I really do. And I mean, I hate Disney Corporation. I hate the fact that they know their own Marvel and their entire catalog of heroes, Star Wars and Pixar. It's good for movie nerds, but I think it's kind of smothering creativity when all you do is meet Disney's Seal endorsement. That's why I hope Marvel never gets the rights to Deadpool from 20th Century Fox. If Marvel gets the rights to the Deadpool movie, it will all be toned down the PG-13 version of the same character we grew up loving. And I would absolutely hate that. There's some gleefully violent and mundane about Deadpool that adhering to a strict PG-13 rating (as Disney would claim) will just take what makes Deadpool different from any other superhero from him. It may still be irreverent and break the fourth wall, but much more softened version of that. Having said all that, what they've done with the Star Wars franchise so far, it was really damn cool. The Force Awakens was the perfect combination of old and new, and it brought the franchise back with a bang. I also like the idea of a one-off story like this, telling a side story involving different characters but set in the same gigantic universe. I like this idea because, frankly, you can do absolutely anything you want creatively. Not that you don't have to stick to the canon of this universe, but you don't have to worry about leaving enough bits and pieces in order to make a sequel after the sequel. This allows you to tell more human stories in a universe that definitely needs them. Hell, you can pretty much kill everyone, no matter if the characters are favorite or not, because you don't have to worry about continuing the story. And SPOILERS FOR FLIXSTER is exactly what this movie did. I'll be completely honest with you, ladies and gentlemen, I thought this movie was pretty damn great. I even thought it was better than The Force Awakens. Let me explain what I mean. TFA has been re-loading the franchise. He combined new and old elements to make something that felt fresh and exciting again. But it was also a film that had to create enough plot points to justify two more sequels. So in my opinion, I believe the best is yet to come for Episode 8 and Episode 9 of the major Star Wars franchise. This film, on the other hand, has no real pressure, since the story itself is autonomous. And I like the way he uses great how fuck does, which makes sense in the original Star Wars trilogy. And it was the destruction of the supposedly indestructible Death Star. This film, simply, tells the story of this group of ragtag losers trying to find plans for the Death Star's weakness to send him into rebellion for them to destroy it. The purpose of this group is not even to destroy the Death Star. While this battle itself is larger in the arc of the original trilogy, this group really are the unsung heroes of the entire franchise. They are not unnamed or faceless, but they may also be given the fact that they are unlikely to receive credit when the Death Star is eventually destroyed and the Empire is finally defeated. The Jedi are the ones who get all the credit. And I think that's what gives the film its power. This group is on this suicide mission not to get credit for their contributions, but simply for their efforts to maybe lead to the defeat of the Empire. All the characters are more than welcome additions to the franchise, even if they are alive just for this lonely movie. You grow up, pretty much, love all these losers. I'm not saying there's an insane amount of character development, but there's more than enough to you buy into these characters and get a real sense of them them The narrative itself does not end on a super positive note (everyone literally dies). The Rebellion (and the Empire, for that matter) lost the Battle of Scarif, but their sacrifice will lead to better in the future. So it's a definite bitter end to be sure. The Battle of Scarif is huge. There's so much action going on and it never feels out of control. It's easy to follow and eminently well edited. I don't know what else to say about the Battle of Scarif. It's just a first-class piece of action. If the film has a flaw is the fact that there are some scenes where it just stretches. This is after the destruction of the Death Star of Jedha, but before the Battle of Scarif. It's not so much a problem since you've invested so much in this world and these characters are what they help overcome some of these issues. Acting really well all around. Casting is damn big and varied. I really don't know what else can I say about this movie? As mentioned, the fact that they killed the entire Rogue One squad gave some added weight and meaning to the action. And it's a kind of story that changes the way you see the original trilogy. Maybe not by much, but it does change it. The thing about these one-off movies in the same universe is the fact that you can show that there are real consequences faced by your main characters. They can't just avoid everything, as heroes often do. In the end, they were going to get stuck in a situation they couldn't get out of. And that's what this movie shows. He does a great job to give weight and importance to the team's actions. I have nothing more to say, but I thought it was a great movie. He has a few problems walking here and there, but these issues hurt less than you think. Great action, great characters and impressive use of Star Wars knowledge makes this an easy recommendation from me. You don't even have to be a Star Wars nerd like this, although it will certainly help a lot. July 16, 2017 after watching the Rogue One- A Star Wars story, overall I liked it, although it was somewhat predictable... There were certain stand out characters such as Lin, Cassian and Chirrut (Donnie Yen) yes there are more familiar than new elements and surroundings. Stormtroopers, Death Star, StarShip, etc. of course, Rogue One takes influences before the original Star Wars New Hope '1977, so of course we should see the same OLE old. but in terms of CGI special effect graphics, action sequences, character image role and dark roles, storylines and climactic endings made it a very interesting good return investment. And CGI was not only action parts, but bringing in the performances of the late Peter Cushing the role of the Great Moff Tarkin as well as Princess Leia Carrie Fisher) , the effect of the image was so realistic and and I was wondering how they were able to achieve this feat. Oddly enough, there were some criticisms and controversy of computer rendering of these characters I liked the musical score during the film, I wasn't so keen on the robot that always wanted to follow Jyn and Cassian around, as other viewers were, no harm done, but I could live with or without it. The noise wasn't always there, but for the most part, I liked the speed to the point of the movie. I thought it was a good start and development point, it only slowed down in the middle, but it took again on its way to a climactic finish. I got a vibe from Jyn, as I did for Ryn (The Force Awakens) as a tireless freedom fighter - but of course Jean has no power like Ryan does. I heard that Rogue One will be the first film in the trilogy, I think many traditional hard core Star War fans may have problems with this movie as it does not use, open with traditional, signature black screen text at the very beginning of the film, such as Once upon a time in a galaxy far away,...and so on to describe the background of the film. Maybe SW fans can grunt about it, but I haven't had a problem with how it feels like experiencing another way of watching a new Star Wars movie. Rogue One : A Star Wars Story ... On a scale of 1 to 10 ,.. I gave it 7.5 April 15, 2017 Technically well done movie. It has action, humor, really impressive CGI it has everything you could want from a movie. But as a non-Star Wars fan this film offers little in the way of the original narrative, leaving me feeling a little unimpressed by this film. Film. rogue one a star wars story streaming italiano
