He returned to the US as Chief Executive of Oldcastle in 1994 and was appointed to his current position as Chief Executive of the CRH Group from January 1, 2000. Liam is married with two sons.

Since its foundation in 1970, following the merger of two major Irish companies – Irish Cement and Roadstone, CRH has delivered consistently high levels of performance and growth. The company is now a leading international building materials group operating in 34 countries, employing approximately 92,000 people at over 3,500 locations. This achievement comes from the implementation of a clear strategy: concentration on three closely related core businesses – primary materials, value-added building products and building materials distribution; and a balanced geographical and product base. The continuing success of CRH is reflected in the long term growth in total shareholder value – averaging around 18% per annum since 1970.
