Married Love Amy Yeung, soprano Douglas Owens, oboe Spider Suite A long Came a Spider The Spider’s Flight Spinning Song A Wicked Waltz: The Spider and the Happy Bug (Unsuspecting) The End of the Day...Begin Again Charles Lewis, flute Elizabeth Aleksander, clarinet Douglas Owens, bassoon Jenni Brandon (b.1977) is an award-winning com- poser. Many ensembles perform her commissioned music both nationally and internationally. She enjoys engaging with performers and audiences, often giving talks about the business of music and the art of collaboration. Recordings of her works ap- pear on the Delos, Albany, Centaur, MSR Classics, and Longhorn labels. Her works are published by Boosey & Hawkes, Santa Barbara Music Publish- ing, Graphite Publishing, TrevCo Music Publishing, Imagine Music, and Jenni Brandon Music. Jenni is the recipient of numerous awards including the Sorel Medallion, the American Prize for Choral Composition, the Women Composers Festival of Hartford International Composition Competition, and the Bassoon Chamber Music Composition Competition. Her recent commissions and performances include We are Joy, a piano concerto for choir and chamber orchestra premiered by the Long Beach Camerata Singers and soon to be published by Pavane Publishing. Her new American Musical Hybrid “Three Paderewskis” with libretto by Oliver Mayer is the winner of the 2017 Paderewski Cycle sponsored by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute of Poland and will be developed into a one-act show. Jenni will be the composer-in-residence for the 2018 LunART Festival in Madison, Wisconsin, as well as a visiting composer at the University of Tennessee at Martin in March. Upcoming commissions include a bassoon concerto with Reed Quintet for Christin Schillinger and the Akropolis Quintet, a work for 2 oboes and piano for premiere during the LunART festival, a soprano and oboe work for Dr. Amy Yeung, a new work for mezzo-soprano, bassoon, and harp for Dr. Darrel Hale, and a horn and piano piece for Steven Cohen to record and premiere. As a conductor, she has led both church and community choirs, and she makes guest appearances to conduct her works. She is also active as a mezzo-soprano and has sung with the Boston Pops, Pacific Chorale, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and at the Hollywood Bowl. She is also a certified yoga teacher (E-RYT 500, RPYT), and seeks ways to combine the benefits of yoga with the art of making music. She creates yoga workshops and practices that explore supporting the musician as a whole, and is the co- founder of the Embody Music Project, bringing together the modalities of Alexander Technique and Yoga.
