Monfils enters at a career-high No. 7 in the Emirates ATP Rankings and is next in line to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. Should Monfils win three matches at the If Stockholm Open, he will set a personal best with 47 victories during the 2016 season. Monfils, Dimitrov and Karlovic are among the hottest players on tour. The Frenchman Monfils is 23-5 following his first-round loss at Wimbledon, highlighted by the biggest title of his career at the ATP World Tour 500 event in Washington. Since suffering a six-match losing streak from May 1 to June 26, Dimitrov is 18-9, including a run to the ATP World Tour 500 final in Beijing. Karlovic lost eight straight matches, including six to start the 2016 season, before winning ATP World Tour 250 titles at Newport and Los Cabos as part of a 27-13 stretch. Also arriving in Stockholm with momentum is No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev. The 19-year-old reached a career- high No. 20 today, making him the youngest player in the Top 20 since Novak Djokovic was No. 16 on November 13, 2006. Zverev has 10 wins over Top 20 opponents this season, including an upset of US Open champion Stan Wawrinka for his first title in St. Petersburg. Rounding out the seeded players are Americans Steve Johnson, Jack Sock and John Isner. Sock fell to Tomas Berdych in the 2015 If Stockholm Open final. Wild cards went to former World No. 4 Juan Martin del Potro and Swedish siblings Elias and Mikael Ymer. Del Potro rose from outside the Top 1000 on February 15 to inside the Top 100 on September 12 during his comeback from three left-wrist surgeries. Among his 23 victories this season are wins over Wawrinka, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, whom he defeated to help Argentina reach the Davis Cup final. Elias Ymer, 20, reached his first ATP quarter-final at Gstaad in July, while his 18-year-old brother Mikael will be playing just his second ATP match this week. He lost 7-6(9), 6-7(5), 6-4 to Zverev in Stockholm last year. DAY 1 PREVIEW: Americans Steve Johnson, Donald Young and Ryan Harrison will be in action on opening day of the 2016 If Stockholm Open. Johnson, the No. 5 seed, captured his first singles title, doubles title and Olympic medal earlier this season, earning career-high rankings in singles and doubles along the way. He meets Radu Albot on Centre Court following Young’s match against Adrian Mannarino, while Harrison faces fellow qualifier Adam Pavlasek on Court 1. Harrison, Radek Stepanek and Mischa Zverev have qualified at nine tour-level events in 2016, tied for the most in a single season since 1990. No. 8 seed and 2009 Stockholm champion Marcos Baghdatis faces Kevin Anderson in the only other singles match on Monday. Anderson is ranked 48th, his lowest mark since he was No. 59 on January 31, 2011. In doubles, Swedish brothers Elias and Mikael Ymer meet Marcin Matkowski and Jean-Julien Rojer. Separated by 29 months, the Ymers never played doubles together as juniors and have yet to do so as professionals. Former teammates at UCLA, Matkowski and Rojer ended 2002 as the No. 1 doubles team in college tennis. They were partners for the first time on tour last week at ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai.
