Gleaves.  Also received was military record of Thomas B. Gleaves, born in Dyer County, (which is incorrect) age 27 farmer, volunteered Mar 25, 1865 in Chicago, Ill. ‘the soldier is credited to the town of Mayfields, DeKalb County, Illinois’ He was in G company of the 10 Inf.` He was discharged as a private on Jun 14, 1865 at camp near Arlington, Virginia. By reason of disability. Disability existed prior to enlistment. Aneurysm of aorta of stomach. Jul 29/39 (don’t understand this date).  She sent a photo of two cemetery markers: Thomas B. Gleaves 1830-1911 and Nancy Ann Gleaves 1844-1912 from Brookside Cemetery near Grimes, Oklahoma  I believe most of the research on this family was made by Earl and Lois D. Gleaves, probably as early as 1984.  Glen Gleaves of Sayre, Oklahoma says: o Glen is grandson of Thomas B. Gleaves. o Thomas B. Gleaves chased Lucinda’s killer to the panhandle of Oklahoma, caught up with him and hanged him there. Thomas returned to Tennessee and married Nancy Ann Burnham. o T. As a result, the footnote was added to Thomas Hill, who had originally been listed as Thomas Peyton Hill. Since then, HHB has replied: I was looking in my Cemetery book and was looking at the small list in the Thomas Gleaves Cemetery in Hermitage, Tn. (the one the Gleaves group cleaned up in March 2005.). I found: Peyton R. Hill....b. Nov. 10, 1828 d. Sept. 30, 1846. In memory of Peyton R., son of Robert S. and Elizabeth Hill.. NOTE: he was NOT alive for the 1850 census - so he is NOT the same as Robert, age 19. (b.1830-31) in the 1850 census. So..o..o.. it appears there WAS a Peyton as well as Thomas. Note parents married 12/15/1825...... Seems they had 4 sons. (wonder what his middle name was?) 52 Payton may have been a name associated with this family but have not been able to verify it ASH: This person was originally listed as Thomas Payton Hill.
