We do not know the exact date of his death, but it was before April 1849. Several of his family were active in this church but his name is not found in the records. Since he wrote his Will on Dec 5, 1846, he may have been ill and unable to participate in church activities. 2 ASH: 1223 acres acquired; 519 acres given to sons 3 As stated in Thomas’ letter 4 Most information from: Lois D. Gleaves Family: Hilda Barnes has 10 typewritten pages titled ‘In Search for Gleaves’ by Lois D. Gleaves16. It is not dated but believe I received it in 1997. It pertains to the family of William B. Gleaves. Also received was military record of Thomas B. Gleaves, born in Dyer County, (which is incorrect) age 27 farmer, volunteered Mar 25, 1865 in Chicago, Ill. ‘the soldier is credited to the town of Mayfields, DeKalb County, Illinois’ He was in G company of the 10 Inf.` He was discharged as a private on Jun 14, 1865 at camp near Arlington, Virginia. By reason of disability. Disability existed prior to enlistment. Aneurysm of aorta of stomach. Jul 29/39 (don’t understand this date). She sent a photo of two cemetery markers: Thomas B. Gleaves 1830-1911 and Nancy Ann Gleaves 1844-1912 from Brookside Cemetery near Grimes, Oklahoma I believe most of the research on this family was made by Earl and Lois D. Gleaves, probably as early as 1984. Glen Gleaves of Sayre, Oklahoma says: o Glen is grandson of Thomas B. Gleaves. o Thomas B. Gleaves chased Lucinda’s killer to the panhandle of Oklahoma, caught up with him and hanged him there. Thomas returned to Tennessee and married Nancy Ann Burnham. o T. B. had long white hair and a long white mustache. o Glen plays a fiddle; Andy played a fiddle.
