Eight current Huskies have been drafted to NHL teams: Sam Colangelo (Anaheim), Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (Nashville), Jordan Harris (Montreal), Riley Hughes (New York Rangers), Michael Kesselring (Edmonton), Devon Levi (Florida), Aidan McDonough (Vancouver) and Jayden Struble (Montreal). SIX-PACK Six players from the 2019-20 team have signed professional contracts: Ryan Shea (Dallas Stars), Matt Filipe (Boston Bruins), Tyler Madden (LA Kings), Biagio Lerario (Manitoba Moose), Craig Pantano (Rapid City Rush/South Carolina Stingrays) and Brendan van Riemsdyk (Reading Royals). WORLD HUSKIES Devon Levi tied a Team Canada record with three shutouts, plus is the first collegiate goalie to play in three or more games for Team Canada in the World Junior Championships and the first collegiate goalie to win three or more games (six wins) for Team Canada. Levi is also the first Husky to ever play for Team Canada and had a Team Canada record .964 Save pct. and 0.75 GAA on the way to the silver medal. The .964 Save pct. is also a tournament record for a goalie who played in five or more games. Levi was named to the All-Star team and named Best Goaltender. Levi was drafted 212th overall by the Florida Panthers. Sam Colangelo had a goal on the way to a gold medal for Team USA. Colangelo was drafted 36th overall by the Anaheim Ducks. Northeastern was one of only three schools, along with Boston College and Wisconsin, to have players on each team in the championship game. Assistant Captain Jordan Harris and Associate Head Coach Jerry Keefe were on the 2020 U.S. National Junior Team while Keefe was joined by Cayden Primeau (Montreal) and Tyler Madden (Los Angeles) on the 2019 silver medal winning team. SHOOTOUT KINGS Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and Aidan McDonough each have a shootout winner for the Huskies this season. McDonough’s on 12/19/20 was the Huskies first Hockey East shootout win since 1996 and overall shootout win since 2013. Connor Murphy has stopped all six shootout attempts he’s seen. The two shootout wins are tied for the most by any team in Hockey East so far. USHL STARS Northeastern boasts four of the top ten scorers from the USHL a season ago. Colangelo finished third with 28 goals and 30 assists. Ty Jackson also had 58 points with 17 goals and 41 assists while Fontaine was fifth with 26 goals and 31 assists. Dylan Jackson was ninth with 21 goals and 34 assists.
