March 10, 2017

Similar to last summer, the Casa Santa Maria will be under construction for the summer of 2017.

At present, pilgrims come to receive their tickets from the USCCB’s Visitors’ Office, located at the Casa Santa Maria here in Rome. Beginning at the end of June 2017, the Casa Santa Maria will be under construction until the end of September 2017. The rector of the Pontifical North American College, Very Rev. Peter Harman, has again kindly offered one of the apartments of the College’s campus on the Hill to serve as a temporary Office during the construction. We will still be able to serve the pilgrims who come to the Visitors’ Office for Papal audiences and event tickets in the same capacity. They will have the opportunity to meet the seminarians and sisters who serve at the Office, have access to the Sacrament of Penance and a chapel for prayer, and the opportunity to attend a catechesis, all of which is available at the Office’s current location.

Tickets for Papal events scheduled between June 26, 2017 and September 22, 2017 will be distributed at the Pontifical North American College. Directions to the College will be provided in our responses to each pilgrim’s request.

In order for pilgrims to receive their tickets, please inform them that it is necessary that they present either an American passport or a driver’s license when they pick up their tickets. In the confirmation email sent to each pilgrim’s request, a necessary phone number will be provided which will allow the pilgrims to call the Office when they arrive to collect their tickets on ticket distribution days. Pilgrims must have this phone number when they come to the Visitors’ Office to claim their tickets.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration with the USCCB’s Visitors’ Office here in Rome. We are grateful to serve you and your pilgrims. If you have any questions, please let us know. A notice regarding the temporary move of the Visitors’ Office will be posted on the Bishops’ only section of the USCCB website and faxed and emailed to the Bishops directly.

Respectfully in Christ,

Sister Mary Christa Nutt, RSM Coordinator of the Bishops’ Office for United States Visitors to the Vatican
