• Switzerland THE exception Swiss Football is the big exception in Europe. The salaries of players and coaches didn’t increase much in the last 20 years (exception Basel). Players in Switzerland know that they can’t earn top dollars in the Swiss league. But they know as well that they are in an excellent window where the top clubs are scouting and their chances for a transfer to a top league is very higher than in most of the other countries if they perform well.

• FC Basel has cache assets of CHF 100 million Only a few clubs in Europe have cache assets as high as FC Basel. This is due to an investor which invested a start capital into the club, and highly professional management. It is possible to achieve the same with Grasshopper Club Zurich. • Gain of know how Switzerland/Grasshopper Club Zurich can pass on the knowledge and experience they have and made to China in developing the Chinese youth players.

• China is an economic power Chinese investors, like every investor, is looking for a good return of their invested money. The newest development in football show four tendencies which make a profit in Swiss football very likely: • Increase of player transfer amount doubled or even tripled in the last few years • Increase of income in Champions League and Europa League participation • Extraordinary increase in TV-Rights income • Due to knew stadiums in Zurich, Lausanne, Aarau and Schaffhausen, in the coming years, attendance will increase and with it profits.

Most of the clubs in Switzerland didn’t realize yet this possibility of generating income. They don’t hire Sports Directors or hire some with limited knowledge. Scouting players is only developed very poorly and therefore the possibility to generate income through transfers very limited.

• Chinese occupying positions or working for FIFA To achieve the goals set by Chinas President, China needs to be well represented in FIFA. Being majority owner of the biggest club in Swiss Football history - Grasshopper Club Zurich – which is located in the city of FIFA’s headquarter, the Chinese investor would increase the chances of Chinese representation in FIFA.

• Zurich City of FIFA’s Headquarter Zurich is were FIFA has its headquarter. A Chinese investor would be well recognized in China if he buys majority of the shares in Grasshopper Club Zurich.

• Grasshopper Club is a polysport club GC founded in 1899 is home to a football-, handball-, rowing-, field hockey-, ice hockey-, tennis-, squash-, basketball- and rugby section

First Steps To A Cooperation

• Only a few Asian players in the European Leagues Only a few Asian players play in European League and if they are mainly in the wrong clubs. Being part of a team in England or Spain and hardly ever play is the wrong choice for Asian players. It doesn’t help the players if they can’t earn any experience.

• Grasshopper Club can open the doors GC can be the door opener for Chinese players in Europe. The Swiss League has a good level but not as high as the top leagues. An ideal start for a top player from China. Gaining for experiences in Europe with Grasshoppers Club and than be transferred to a top league.

• Chinese top youth players playing for Grasshopper Club The best Chinese youth players could be brought to Zurich and play in the best youth teams at Grasshopper Club. An excellent football education would be guaranteed. The Under 21, Under 18, Under 17, Under 16 and Under 15 teams of Grasshopper Club would welcome the best Chinese talents in their team.

• Chinese youth players would develop faster in Switzerland Due to the Swiss youth development system and the champion ship played in Switzerland, the Chinese talents would develop faster to good players. They are playing every year 30 to 40 matches on a top youth level.

Different Possibilities to Cooperating

• Grasshopper Club can offer different models for a cooperation Depending on the needs of China, Grasshopper Club Zurich can offer the following possibilities:

• 4-6 weeks stay at the GC Campus The Chinese youth players come for 4-6 weeks during the months of June, July and August to the GC Campus. They would participate in training and matches with their Swiss colleagues during their stay. This would give them a feeling for the pace and the way of football which is played in Europe.

• 6 month special education on the GC Campus The Chinese talents would start in January or July a six month stage in the GC Campus. These Chinese players would be part of the respective team in their age group and participate in the champion ship games. In addition they would be subscribed to a private school were they choose their classes in English, French or German.

• One year special education on the GC Campus A one year stage of Chinese talents would allow the GC coaches to work individually on the strength and weaknesses of the Chines players.

• Preparation of Chinese youth teams on the GC Campus GC coaches would prepare Chinese youth teams for matches or tournaments that these teams would play in Europe.

• Education of Chinese Coaches at the GC Campus GC coaches and instructors would teach and educate Chinese coaches at the GC Campus. Possibilities for Chinese youth coaches to be an assistant coach in the GC youth teams for a certain period would allow them to make first hand experiences on European top youth football level.
