MNI POLITICAL RISK ANALYSIS – Week Ahead 6-12 Sep by Tom Lake All Timings Subject to Change
MNI POLITICAL RISK ANALYSIS – Week Ahead 6-12 Sep by Tom Lake All timings subject to change. Monday 6 September: • United Kingdom: Parliament returns from summer recess. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to deliver a statement to the House of Commons on the emergency G7 virtual summit that took place regarding the situation in Afghanistan, as well as an update on the conclusion if the British evacuation effort last week. • European Union: Informal video conference of economy and finance ministers took place. During the meeting, ministers supported the plans for the Czech Republic and Ireland regarding the COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience facility. The Czech Republic is set to receive EUR7bn, with Ireland in receipt of EUR989mn to assist with recovery from the pandemic as well as their efforts on climate and digital transition under NextGenEU. • United States, Canada: Public holiday for Labor Day. Tuesday 7 September: • United States: No set date, but it is anticipated that this week the White House could send a list of ‘anomalies’ to the House and Senate Appropriations panels that it wants funded outside of any already-funded programmes as part of a Continuing Resolution. As of 7 September, there will be 23 days until the federal government runs out of funds, with an agreement of some sort required to avoid a shut-down. While the Democrats control the White House and both chambers of Congress, their demand of a debt-ceiling increase could make the passage of a deal more difficult, with Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) voicing Republican opposition. -

Golden World Awards for Excellence 2018
THE INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION The International Public Relations Association GOLDEN WORLD AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE 2018 2018 GOLDEN WORLD AWARDS THE INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION The International Public Relations Association Golden World Awards For Excellence 2018 Organised by: With the support of: 2018 GOLDEN WORLD AWARDS THE INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION The IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence 2018: demonstrating global professionalism IPRA has run the Golden World Awards (GWA) since 1990. From the start, the central aim has been to highlight excellence in public relations from around the globe. Over the years shifts in emphasis in the GWA entries have been noticeable. Public relations have made a major shift to being more strategic. Clients of agencies and the in- house clients of PR and communication departments have become more sophisticated in their expectations. This is reflected in the 2018 entries. Also, the influx of university- trained staff into the profession (a departure from the era in which journalists were often recruited into PR) has brought a more defined understanding of communication theory among PR professionals. This is a welcome process. Of course, there will always be a place for gut feeling. Any profession that thrives on creativity needs this, but too much intuition and too little rationality will eventually hamper the achievement of long-term objectives and goals. It is satisfying to witness this balance in the entries for the 2018 Golden World Awards for Excellence. -

Dear Madam President, Dear Ursula, As Heads of States And
20 April 2021 Dear Madam President, Dear Ursula, As Heads of States and Governments we have committed to the Paris Agreement and the climate neutrality of the EU and we are very firm in standing by you when accomplishing the European Green Deal. At the same time, we must insist that all important elements of it remain preserved, namely improving well-being of citizens and pursuing the just transition that leaves no one behind. In this respect, recent developments around the Commission proposals for the EU Taxonomy delegated act raise serious concerns among us. We are particularly worried about our right to decide on our energy mix in conditions where the rules for mobilization of private and public investments would clearly disadvantage some technologies, since the principle of technological neutrality is not respected to the extent that they constitute an indispensable element of the 2030 National Climate Energy Plans and they contribute to a significant decrease of GHG. Investment decisions being strongly affected may even result in substantial slowing down of the process of coal phase-out in some states and make us all much less fit for achieving climate-neutral Europe. The direction the delegated act preparation heads for is not right for our economies and it is not right for the EU's growth either. We firmly believe that the intention to put forward a separate legislative proposal specifically covering how certain economic activities, primarily in the energy sector, contribute to decarbonisation is contrary to the core of the Taxonomy Regulation – the principle of technological neutrality as well as the commitment to ensure that technical screening criteria are based on available scientific evidence. -
Slovakia Political Briefing: Prime Minister Eduard Heger and His “New” Cabinet Peter Csanyi
ISSN: 2560-1601 Vol. 40, No. 1 (SK) May 2021 Slovakia political briefing: Prime Minister Eduard Heger and his “new” Cabinet Peter Csanyi 1052 Budapest Petőfi Sándor utca 11. +36 1 5858 690 Kiadó: Kína-KKE Intézet Nonprofit Kft. [email protected] Szerkesztésért felelős személy: CHen Xin Kiadásért felelős személy: Huang Ping china-cee.eu 2017/01 Prime Minister Eduard Heger and his “new” Cabinet Summary Igor Matovič was prime minister for a year that only lasted eleven months. During the twelfth month, at the peak of the biggest pandemic wave this country has seen so far, there was little governing to speak of. March 2021 was instead a month of a discussion about discussion about ministerial reshuffles. Finally, PM Igor Matovič stepped down on March 30. President Zuzana Čaputová accepted his resignation and assigned Finance Minister Eduard Heger to form the next ruling cabinet for Slovakia. She also appointed the new cabinet ministers on April 1, 2021. Most of the cabinet members remained in their former posts. The main changes were made to the position of health minister and to that of finance minister, which is now the remit of Igor Matovič. The “new” Cabinet’s task is to keep the coalition together and to help the country to survive the pandemic. Introduction Slovakia's Prime Minister Igor Matovič formally resigned from his post to resolve the country's political crisis and the country's former deputy prime minister and minister of finance, Eduard Heger, was tasked with forming a new government to avoid an early election. It took Igor Matovič one month to understand that his departure from the top government post was the only way out of the coalition stalemate if he and his governing partners were to avoid an early election. -

Orbán to Meet Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki and Matteo Salvini, Head of Italy’S Lega
PM APRIL 1, 2021 EDITORS: [email protected] WWW.HUNGARYMATTERS.HU AFTERNOON ISSUE PHOTO OF THE DAY UPCOMING EVENTS Coronavirus updates Orbán to meet Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki and Matteo Salvini, head of Italy’s Lega Easter celebrations MTI/Tamás Vasvári Man receives Moderna coronavirus shot at a mobile vaccination facility TOP STORY ORBÁN: VACCINATION ONLY WAY TO STOP VIRUS Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that vaccination was the only way to stop the coronavirus epidemic, adding that restrictions could only slow down the pandemic. Orbán told public news channel M1 that the third wave was triggered by the British virus variant which is more aggressive than previous variants and is spreading faster. As long as infections were isolated cases, lockdown and staying at home helped but the current mass infection cannot be stopped, only slowed down with the help of the lockdown and restrictions. “There is only one cure and there is only one way to stop it instead of simply slowing it down. It is the vaccines that can stop and kill the virus,” he said. It follows that all efforts should be focused on vaccination, he added. Orbán said that as of Wednesday, Hungary had enough vaccines for 2,011,029 people. Vaccines for 2,356,000 will be available by April 4 and for 4,121,000 by early May, he added. These volumes include both eastern and western vaccines, he said. Orbán said he expected that enough vaccine will be available by late May or early June to inoculate 7 million people. He expressed hope that all registered persons will have received their first shots by late April or early May. -

Report 2021, No. 9
News Agency on Conservative Europe Report 2021, No. 9. Report on conservative and right wing Europe 20th May, 2021 GERMANY 1. tichyseinblick.de (translated, original by Roland Tichy, 19.04.2021) Baerbock is the green candidate for chancellor - and no other surprises It became clear: Now the Greens are competing with Annalena Baerbock. We are experiencing an epochal change in Germany, triggered by the quiet collapse of the Union and the FDP. It is no surprise that Annalena Baerbock became the Greens' candidate for chancellor; the time of men in the new, green painted world is up. They are accessories without a chance; and you only have to look at the Habecks of this world, then you know why: While the alpha males in the Union tear each other apart, the males in the greens are modest and flexible. Competence has long ceased to be a factor in the new world, in which feeling and then again feeling and then again feeling decide. It's about identity. If at some point Baerbock's post 2 should become vacant again, then certainly only one PoC * has the chance - People of Color, female. It's over, you machos like Jürgen Trittin or Joschka Fischer; you have made the greens great and superfluous. Enjoy retirement, it will be terrible. Not for you, green grandpas. Media cheers open It is also no surprise that the media, ARD and ZDF ahead, have opened the jubilation gates. It was hinted at. Baerbock fits too well into the scheme with which one believes in the sheltered workshops of fee-financed television that one can cope with the future.
