Daley Mathison Racing #104 Newsletter 8 - 2014 Mid-Season Review July 6th 2014 Opening with two first-place finishes at Darley Moor, an excellent performance at his debut TT and some impressive results returned at other International and National meetings, Daley's 2014 season to this mid-point has proved to be very successful. This latest Newsletter describes the season so far and looks forward to the remainder of the racing year, with a tabulated summary of current race results appearing at the end of the document. Overview Whilst the overall programme of race meetings was similar to that of 2013, the season started with a significant upgrade of machinery thanks to the commitment of Hol-Taj Exports and Team Classic Suzuki. Daley's other principal sponsors, listed later, have all contributed significantly and he hopes that his results and his representation of their interests have justified their support and trust. Naturally, the highlight has been Daley's debut at the TT, where he was very proud to be awarded two Bronze Replicas and to have achieved a fastest lap speed of 120.184mph during the Superbike Race. Overall, Daley has had an excellent season so far, especially considering that the Superbike was a new On the start line for the Superport Race 1 at the TT build. He's been delighted with his achievement of three first place, three second place and two third place finishes. There have been some amendments to the original post-TT race schedule and the new one is presented below. The latest news and information is always available on Daley's website, which is updated very regularly and also includes a comprehensive archive (www.daleymathisonracing.co.uk). -

In total, he has made 62 trips to the Island. An aircraft engineer by trade, Dave acted as mechanic & refueller for several TT riders. He was a marshal for 21 years, usually at Greeba, where he dealt with numerous incidents. He has restored several vintage British motorcycles and won many awards with his Velocette and Nortons. In 1978, he was accompanied by his friend Dave Whitham and Dave’s young son, Jamie. Inspired by the TT win of the legendary Mike Hailwood, Jamie went on to become a successful professional motorcycle racer. The author pictured in June 1979, with his son, Paul. It comprises 37¾ miles of public roads that are closed for a few hours for practising and racing. -

Vitesse! Page 3 Foreword Motorsport essentially consists of three ingredients. First, you need a motor vehicle - which can be anything from a Formula 1 car to a lawn mower, or from a MotoGP motorcycle to a pocket bike. Second, you need a driver or rider to operate the vehicle, and finally, a place to go racing - a circuit. To most people this last ingredient is probably the least interesting. The number of books about famous racing drivers and cars, or great riders and their motorcycles, is far larger than the number of books about racing circuits. However, to me circuits are the most interesting aspect of motorsport, for two main reasons. First is their great diversity: in terms of shape, layout, length, difficulty, fame and many other factors, every circuit is different, and each has its own story to tell. Second, it is fascinating to see just how many circuits there are. Once you start looking, you can find them just about any- where. Finding lost circuits or discovering long-forgotten tracks is one of the most fun aspects of researching racing circuits. When looking for information about racing circuits online, I often found it frustrating that the available sources were not complete, and that they often lacked detail and accuracy. This is one of the reasons why I started my website www.wegcircuits.nl and why I made Rennen! Races! Vitesse! - a downloadable pdf-file that lists racing circuits of past and present in four European countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. -
