New Places: Dynamic and Creative Paris! Dossier « Paris art de vivre » / Paris hébergement - 2013 - Office du Tourisme et des Congrès de Paris – 1/10/2013 Paris has a wide choice of accommodation at all prices, for all tastes and in all styles! With such a varied offer, everyone can find accommodation to suit them in the French capital: palaces, upscale or budget hotels, design or atypical accommodation. Visitors will find the whole range of traditional accommodation here as well as other options such as the comfort of a rental or exchange apartment, the conviviality of a youth hostel, the experience of couch surfing or even the cosy intimacy of a Bed & Breakfast. 2013-2014 And proving that Paris is a city on the move, every month hotels are undergoing refurbishment and modernization, and new establishments are opening and offering new services. Paris has one of the largest accommodation capacities in Europe with more than 1,500 officially-recognized hotels, i.e. more than 80,000 guest rooms, as well as 61 apartment hotels, 1 campsite and 35 accommodation centres for young people. NEW PLACES: DYNAMIC AND CREATIVE PARIS! Paris lives up to its name as the capital of fashion and creation. And that applies to the hotel sector too, with new hotels, renovation and refurbishment projects, etc. There is always something happening on the accommodation scene ensuring that the city is always cutting edge. > All new and beautiful! All categories of hotels open in Paris, and many of them stand out for their designer decor and originality. This year, the Elegancia group has opened the hotel Angely, which adds to the accommodation offer in the Marais / Oberkampf district. With its guest rooms designed by cabinets of creative designers, the Angely offers guests the choice of being an angel or a demon. The hotel Champs-Elysées Mac Mahon, which has been closed since the beginning of 2011, reopens after a complete makeover in an Empire style with a contemporary feel. Ideally situated below the Arc de Triomphe, the hotel offers a unique atmosphere in its 35 guest rooms and 5 suites, a lounge bar and a terrace with a view. In the same district, Book Inn France, an independent hotel group, unveils its new hotel full of charm: the Hôtel Elysée Secret. This new boutique hotel with its designer and sensual atmosphere is a new secret Parisian spot. With an ambience inspired by the spirit of 18th-century boudoir hotels, the Elysée Secret offers 26 guest rooms in the categories ‘Charme’, ‘Secret’,’ Boudoir’ and ‘Suites Trianon’. The Newhotel Roblin has reopened after full refurbishment of its 77 guest rooms. The decor of this establishment, entrusted to luxury decorator Flamand, has been personalized on the theme of Paris’s various districts. Behind its listed facade, everything is new! One of Paris’s tourist gems, the Hôtel Montmartre Mon Amour, has just reopened a few steps from Sacré Coeur. Twenty-four rooms, devoted to love, bear the names of famous couples. The reception is in a rococo style and the hotel corridors are decorated in the colour scarlet. Stella Cadente is the designer behind the renovation of the Hôtel Original Paris, well-situated between the chic area of Place des Vosges and the lively Bastille. Exuding luxury, extravagance, poetry and elegance, the Hôtel Original lives up to its name. Fans of myths should go to the Legend Hôtel, in the Montparnasse district. This hotel promises guests a gripping and mysterious stay, as indicated by the intriguing accès gratuit NEW ! inauguration, réouverture Ycoup de cœur 1 Dossier « Paris art de vivre » / Paris hébergement - 2013 - Office du Tourisme et des Congrès de Paris – 1/10/2013 suite ‘Passage secret’. Or to the Maison Favart, in another district (2nd arrondissement) of Paris. This house and hotel, below the Opéra-Comique theatre, takes the name of Charles Favard who formerly ran the institution. The atmosphere is full of 18th-century Paris, musical and festive. > Up-coming Many other projects will soon follow on from these new addresses to give Paris a continually changing and renewed accommodation offer. Among the most eagerly- awaited in 2013/2014 is the Buddha-Bar Hotel, which will be the brand’s first Parisan hotel. It is requesting a five-star rating for its 56 guest rooms (including 21 suites) housed in an 18th-century mansion owned by the Qatar group. Another much-awaited opening, the first So by Sofitel will replace the Sofitel Arc de Triomphe; and the Molitor swimming pool, a masterpiece of art deco heritage, will be converted into a 124-room 4-star hotel. The Singapore group Ascott, present in Paris until now under the brand Citadines, plans to convert the former Hôtel Costes K, in avenue Kléber, into an upscale apartment hotel under the name of Ascott Arc de Triomphe Paris 5*. It is also in the heart of the 16th arrondissement, close to the Arc de triomphe, that the Peninsula chain will open a new 200-bedroom establishment in the former Kléber international conference centre. Between now and 2014, the hotel Cheval Blanc, with 100 guest rooms, will open at the Samaritaine. The former department store will house this palace with magnificent views of the Seine, plus shops, offices and even a crèche. In the same period, the palace Plaza Athénée will extend its premises to create new guest rooms, following the purchase of adjoining buildings. And the glam rock brand Zadig et Voltaire plan to launch their first ever hotel (with an ultra select concept) in the heart of the chic and discreet 7th arrondissement. Major projects include, the opening of the Grand hôtel du Palais-Royal, a new luxury hotel and the reopening of the Prince de Galles, the jewel in the crown of Parisian hotels, after full renovation of the establishment. • PARIS Cushman & Wakefield Global Cities Retail Guide
PARIS Cushman & Wakefield Global Cities Retail Guide Cushman & Wakefield | Paris | 2019 0 Regarded as the fashion capital of the world, Paris is the retail, administrative and economic capital of France, accounting for near 20% of the French population and 30% of national GDP. Paris is one of the top global cities for tourists, offering many cultural pursuits for visitors. One of Paris’s main growth factors is new luxury hotel openings or re-openings and visitors from new developing countries, which are fuelling the luxury sector. This is shown by certain significant openings and department stores moving up-market. Other recent movements have accentuated the shift upmarket of areas in the Right Bank around Rue Saint-Honoré (40% of openings in 2018), rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and Place Vendôme after the reopening of Louis Vuitton’s flagship in 2017. The Golden Triangle is back on the luxury market with some recent and upcoming openings on the Champs-Elysées and Avenue Montaigne. The accessible-luxury market segment is reaching maturity, and the largest French proponents have expanded abroad to find new growth markets. Other retailers such as Claudie Pierlot and The Kooples have grown opportunistically by consolidating their positions in Paris. Sustained demand from international retailers also reflects the current size of leading mass-market retailers including Primark, Uniqlo, Zara brands or H&M. In the food and beverage sector, a few high-end specialised retailers have enlivened markets in Paris, since Lafayette Gourmet has reopened on boulevard Haussmann, La Grande Épicerie in rue de Passy replacing Franck & Fils department store, and more recently the new concept Eataly in Le Marais.
