General Mainsails, mizzens and gaff foresails are measured on the sails. Foretriangle notes measurements are made on the spars. Sails set in the foretriangle are not measured individually. LOA Length Overall is the length on deck and excludes bowsprits and other spars. LWL Waterline Length excludes the rudder. Beam Measured as the widest part of the boat from outside hull material – not including rubbing strakes or other appendages Draught Measured from waterline to the bottom of the lowest point of the keel If Centreplate is fitted, two separate measurements should be taken: with plate up and down I With J measurement forms the foretriangle ‘I’ measured from the foot of the mast at deck level to the swallow of the sheave of the highest sail in the foretriangle. J With ‘I’ measurement forms the foretriangle. ‘J’ measured from the foot of the mast at deck level to the swallow of the sheave of the jib outhaul or the eye of the fitting of the furthest forestay setting the furthest forward jib. The actual headsails are not measured. H Measure the length of the luff of the sail. G Measure the length of the head of the sail. B Measure the length of the foot of the sail. TH Measure the length of the luff of the topsail. TI The horizontal depth of the topsail from clew to luff.
