Published for the first time more than a decade ago as a booklet in a modest cyclostyled shape by the Cultural Department of the Indonesian Embassy in India, it has been revised several times in Jakarta in the same form to keep up to date with new discoveries and current theories. Since it seemed to have filled a need felt by foreigners as well as Indonesians to obtain an elementary knowledge of Indonesia's past, it has been thought wise to publish it now in a printed form with the aim to reach a larger public than before. -

Pitana 3 Abstract Gebyog is a traditional Javanese house wall made of wood with a particular pattern. The shape of Javanese houses and gebyog develop over periods of culture and government until today. The shapes of gebyog are greatly influenced by various culture, such as Hindu, Buddhist, Islamic, and Chinese. The Hindu and Buddhist influences of are evident in the shapes of the ornaments and their meanings. The Chinese influence through Islamic culture developing in the archipelago is strong, mainly in terms of the gebyog patterns, wood construction techniques, ornaments, and coloring techniques. The nuance has been felt in the era of Majapahit, Demak, Mataram and at present. The use of ganja mayangkara in Javanese houses of the Majapahit era, the use of Chinese-style gunungan ornaments at the entrance to the Sunan Giri tomb, the saka guru construction technique of Demak mosque, the Kudusnese and Jeparanese gebyog motifs, and the shape of the gebyog patangaring of the house. The purpose of this research to analyze the character values from Ngendar tradition. The types of this research are qualitative which ethnographic approach is. These location of this research in Puseh Pungit temple in Penataran Agung areal, Banjar Sekarmukti, Pangsan Village. Researcher using purposive sampling technique to determine information, collecting the data’s using observation, interviews, literature studies and documentation. The descriptive qualitative technique’ that are use to data analyses. The result of this research to show; first is process of Ngendar as heritage that celebrated in six months as an expression about grateful to the God (Ida Sang Hyang Widi Wasa). The reasons why these traditions’ always celebrated by the children’s are affected from holiness, customs and cultures. Second, Ngendar on the naming the characters which is as understanding character children’s with their religion that are affected by two things, the naming about religion behavior with way reprimand and appreciation through their confidence (Sradha) and Karma Phala Sradha. Next function is to grow their awareness. -

TEXT ANURAG MALLICK he sun was about to set across the cliffs of Uluwatu, the stony headland that gave the place its name. Our guide, Made, explained that ulu is ‘land’s end’ or ‘head’ in Balinese, while watu is ‘stone’. PerchedT on a rock at the southwest tip of the peninsula, Pura Luhur Uluwatu is a pura segara (sea temple) and one of the nine directional temples of Bali protecting the island. We gaped at the waves crashing 230 ft below, unaware that the real spectacle was about to unfold elsewhere. A short walk led us to an amphitheatre overlooking the dramatic seascape. In the middle, around a sacred lamp, fifty bare-chested performers sat in concentric rings, unperturbed by the hushed conversations of the packed audience. They sat in meditative repose, with cool sandalwood paste smeared on their temples and flowers tucked behind their ears. Sharp at six, chants of cak ke-cak stirred the evening air. Panji Stories tells the story about Kadiri Kingdom get rapid developed in the Majapahit times. This story then spread out to various regions, begin from Nusa Tenggara, Bali, almost all Java, and Sumatera region, Kalimantan until to Malay Peninsula, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, and Philippines. Unrealized then at last Panji Stories become the bigger challenging tales in wayang stories, Ramayana and Mahabharata. The Various of Panji Culture expression in the form of oral literature, visual literature, performance art, and values of life. Panji Culture has many variants derived from Java, is properly be packed as a museum. In Tumpang, Malang, East Java, has stood up Panji Museum Inggil Foundation-owned. Statement of the problem in this study is how the museum packing based on Story Panji? This article aims to provide inputs of thematic museum-based Panji Story. Indonesia museums has it own uniqueness, in addition to the large number, evenly spread out in many regions, also has multiform types of collection. But, the essential problem is not solved yet, both from internal or external side, that leading museum has not attracted by the tourists. The strategy of Panji story based museum development that described through this study expresses the importance opportunity of museum management modernization to increasing the museum attractiveness in Indonesia. -

(3) Menganalisis urgensi dan utility Pariwisata Budaya khususnya Objek Pariwisata Budaya Pura Taman Ayun jika ditinjau sebagai keunggulan komparatif Provinsi Bali. (4) Mengidentifikasi kendala dalam pelaksanan Peraturan Daerah Provinsi Bali Nomor 2 Tahun 2012 pada Objek Pariwisata Budaya Pura Taman Ayun dan alternatif pemecahannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subyek penelitian adalah : (1) Sekertaris Desa Mengwi, (2) Pemangku Pura Taman Ayun, (3) Kepala Bidang Informasi Dinas Pariwisata Kabupaten Badung, (4) Sekertaris Dinas Kebudayaan Kabupaten Badung, (5) Pengamat Pariwisata, (6) Penggiat Pariwisata Budaya Pura Taman Ayun, dan (7) Masyarakat umum Kecamatan Mengwi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah : observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi.
