Many people tune into the show ‘X Factor’ each week to see all the unknown talent in our country but, most students are not aware that there is a familiar Puma face behind the star performers. ‘X Factor’ is a television music competition franchise that was originally created in the United Kingdom and has spread throughout the entire world since. America’s ‘X Factor’ was created by Simon Cowell in September 2011. Over ten million people tune in each week to watch talented singers from across the country. The singers are critiqued by the panel of judges including Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid, and Simon Cowell. Freshman Addison Moffett recently had the opportunity be a backup dancer for the show. She auditioned for the first time last year, but did not get it. She tried again this year and made it. “I’m a really big fan of ‘X Factor’ and I didn’t get it last year so I felt like I had to redeem myself,” Moffett said. The audition was set up by Moffett’s agency, Block Agency. The agency sends her emails, informing her of any upcoming jobs and auditions. After making the show, she traveled to CBS Studios in California from Nov. 24 to the 28. Moffett performed as a backup dancer for contestant Diamond White. She was on the show on Wed. Nov. 28. Moffett had a great experience being on set for a few days. “I got to meet all the contestants,” she said. “I got to see Britney [Spears] because she was the mentor of the person I was dancing for…but I didn’t talk to her.” Moffett has been dancing since she was seven years old. During this long, demanding journey of dance there have been highs and lows. Despite this, she refuses to give up her passion. “I have sometimes [thought about quitting] because my friends say it’s too much, but I think it’s just more of a career and it’s just more fun,” she said. photo by Paige Coakley Moffett hopes that her future holds more opportunities Freshman Addison Moffet warms up in Moveo practice.
