The team is the front end service that delivers care, investigates and stabilises patients before admitting them for further management, transferring to the Acute Medical Unit or discharging back into the community. We have Senior Clinicians in the department 24/7 and there is a Consultant or Associate Specialist present 12 hours a day 365 days a year. There is a musculo skeletal clinic four days a week (Monday – Thursday) staffed by A&E Consultants and a fracture clinic every Friday run by Mr Foroughi. The A&E Consultants also run two ATLS courses a year (Advanced Trauma Life Support) at GEH to enable clinicians to deal with trauma more effectively. The A&E Consultants are available for advice to General Practitioners in the local area. We are keen to work closely with our local GP

The consultation report and associated appendices are provided to the Governing Body for consideration in the context of making a decision on the location of walk-in provision; alongside other information which will be presented and discussed in public at the governing body meeting on 28th January. Key Points: NHS WNCCG undertook a consultation on Improving Urgent Care between 6th October and 15th December 2015. The consultation was undertaken by Arden and Gem Commissioning Support Unit. The consultation set out two options for the location of walk-in provision. The two options were: Option 1: To relocate the walk-in service from Camp Hill to be provided on the George Eliot Hospital site, as part of a fully integrated urgent care service working closely with A&E, NHS 111 and the GP out of hours service on this site. Option 2: Keep the walk-in service as a standalone urgent care service at Camp Hill. (I.e. Do nothing.) During the consultation period over 1000 conversations were conducted and 630 consultation forms were completed. Responses were received from a wide range of locations covered by NHS WNCCG and bordering areas. Responses were from individuals and on behalf of organisations. The outcome of the consultation was : • Option 1 338 respondents • Option 2 292 respondents • Total 630 Option One: To relocate the walk-in provision to the George Eliot Hospital Site was the preferred option by a difference of 7.7%.
