With MIDFIELD STRIKER the help of my team, we have been able to put together a more organised and structured set-up on the social media platforms towards the back end of last season and I am constantly looking to improve that.
Back in June, we launched a new Youtube channel ahead of the forthcoming season. Upon following and working for the club starting back in December, I set my sights on improving the club’s video content and that is what I hope as a team we can achieve in the 2019/20 season. Over the past season, our home fixtures have been covered excellently by “TBTV” independently to the club. We would like to thank Tony at TBTV for his work with the club, and the highlights packages he produced were really appreciated. With Tony’s availability for away fixtures limited, SAM JACKSON ANDY FLETCHER and our developing ideas for full media coverage, we have taken the decision to bring the match DEFENDER GOALKEEPING COACH highlights back in house.
The most important development in my opinion is the introduction of interviews, particularly with Tom. For too long, the fans haven’t had access to interviews with the manager and have often had to look towards the Bournemouth Echo quotes-led write-up for reaction. This should no longer have to be the case. Tom has assured us of full co-operation from both himself and the playing staff.
HARRY PHILLIPS PAUL AYLEY I would however, like to note that although I have assembled a decent sized team, none of the GOALKEEPER KIT MANAGER media set-up are based locally to Poole and therefore the plans for video content may get off to a slightly slow start in July and August whilst the media team are away from university. I personally will be at all the pre-season and August fixtures though, so at the very least, there should be interviews after each fixture. By the time you are reading this, you will hopefully have already seen some of our work from the first pre-season outing!

10 I POOLE TOWN FC V CHELSEA XI 20TH JULY 2019 POOLE TOWN FC V CHELSEA XI 20TH JULY 2019 I 11 Daishawn Redan From the Dug out Andy Myers MANAGER DEVELOPMENT SQAUD CHELSEA FC The 45-year-old former Blues defender has spent over a decade working in various coaching roles in the Chelsea Academy, most recently last season as lead coach for the Under-18s, as well as acting as number two to successive coaches with the development squad. He also spent the 2016/17 campaign as assistant coach at Vitesse Arnhem.
Myers succeeded Jody Morris, another of Lampard’s newly-appointed assistants, in the role of youth team manager last summer and guided the young Blues to a third-place league finish. After progressing through the Academy ranks himself as a player, he made over 100 senior appearances for us between 1991 and 1999, winning the FA Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup.
Jon Harley, who also moves up from the Under-18s after working closely with Myers last term, will take the role of development squad assistant.
The Chelsea Academy summer schedule began with a trip to Portugal to take on Portimonense, our youngsters will also face Lechia Gdansk, Glasgow Rangers and Bayern Munich as part of their pre-season programme. A training camp in the Portuguese Algarve marks the start of preparations for the 2019/20 season for our development squad with fixtures against Swansea City, Poole Town, Newport County and Sutton United. The visit to Rodney Parade in south Wales will mark a benefit game for Fraser Franks, the former Chelsea Academy defender who played for Newport this season. The 28-year-old was forced to retire from playing football in March on medical advice because of a heart problem. The Chelsea Academy conclude pre-season with a trip to Scotland at the start of August, where they will take on Rangers, before the Premier League 2 campaign begins on the weekend of Saturday 10 August. Meanwhile, our youth team are set to travel to Poland for their overseas training camp before friendlies against Bournemouth, Bayern and Everton.

This decision has been made, in part, by Dolphin Catering and Club director Steve Griffiths’ desire to take a step back from his many commitments. Here customers will be able to enjoy a homemade ‘dish of the day’ (including Lizzie’s now famous steak pie) and a pint/glass of wine for £6.50. There will be drink specials prior to each game and for spirit drinkers a club double offer will be available throughout. Last season’s price hikes have been reversed and with BT set to televise the lunchtime games, we will have plenty of matches available to watch in the clubhouse prior to the Dolphin’s kick off.
The mobile catering unit which appeared towards the end of last season has undergone refurbishment and has been equipped to offer hot & cold food and beverages. This will help to reduce the queues at the clubhouse kiosk as well as giving us the opportunity to offer a greater variety of choices on the menu. Amongst new offerings will be more vegetarian choices, sausage rolls and pies, home made soups, milkshakes and more. The wooden tea hut that has been moved to the North Stand end will offer a limited range of food and beverages on busy fixtures and segregated matches.

HOW TODAY CAME ABOUT?
For those who aren’t regular visitors to our website you maybe wondering how Poole Town came to land such a prestigious fixture against a team from one of the Premier League’s giants. It all started back in January when Chelsea contacted the club to enquire whether they could hire our pitch to have a light training session ahead of their forthcoming evening game against AFC Bournemouth. Our commercial manager, Alex Pike, took up the enquiry and negotiated this friendly as part of the deal which will also see one of our youth teams having the opportunity of visiting Chelsea’s Academy for a day (more of that below). With that sorted, and amid great secrecy, Chelsea’s first team squad including Eden Hazard, David Luiz, Willian took to the turf of the Tatnum on a very chilly morning at the end of January. Although the visit didn’t prove lucky for Chelsea, who lost heavily at AFCB later in the day, it saw the start of a long winning streak at home for the Dolphins which helped us into the play-offs.

In recognition for the work he has done for the youth section, and in particular the work he has put into the ptfckids.co.uk website and social media platforms, Andy White and his U8’s side have been offered this opportunity. Formed in 1890, Poole joined the Dorset League in 1896,then the Hampshire League in 1903. Poole joined the Western League in 1923. In 1926 the club turned professional joining the Southern Football League, Eastern Division. The 1926-27season saw the club's best FA cup run in its history. They reached the third round and played Everton losing 3–1 at Goodison Park. Poole re-joined the Western league in 1930 and stayed there until 1957. In 1933 Poole moved into Poole Stadium. They became known as Poole Town in 1934. In 1994 the Dog Track was widened making the centre green too small for a regulation pitch. Poole Town were obliged to move on and find a new home. Poole Town shared a ground with Hamworthy United. In the 1995-96 season Poole lost 39 consecutive matches, equalling the record set by Stockport County in 1977, winning just 1 point from 42 league matches Poole Town were relegated from the Southern League to Hampshire league Division One, sharing a ground with Holt United. In October 2000, Poole began playing at Tatnam, now Oakdale Junior School. They subsequently built a permanent barrier around the pitch, hardstanding, floodlights, dugouts, a small club shop, tea hut, licensed bar and an £80,000 stand which allowed them to be promoted into the Wessex League First Division. The 2008–09 season saw Poole win the Wessex Premier title and Dorset Senior Cup. In the 2009–10 season Poole Town sold Charlie Austin to Swindon Town for an undisclosed sum. During the 2010–11 season Poole Town won the Wessex league Premier Division for the third consecutive season and reached the semi-final of the FA Vase and the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. In contrast to previous seasons, the club were granted promotion to the Southern League after FA agreed to them staging Southern League football at Tatnam. The 2012–13 season saw the club promoted as champions of Southern League Division One South and West. The club completed the treble that season. 2013–14 season saw Poole miss out on the playoffs by just one point. The 2014–15 season saw Poole Town win the Southern League Cup, but missed out on the Championship on the last day of the season losing 3–2 at home to Corby. The game was watched by a Tatnam record 2,203 crowd. Tatnam was upgraded again in 2013 with the dugouts moved, a new clubhouse, a third turnstile, 100 more seats, improved dressing rooms, more toilets and a new changing facility for the officials, as well as a new stand. The total upgrade cost over £200,000 and enabled promotion to the National League South at the end of the 2015-16 season. Poole competed near the top of the National League South in their first season but were ineligible for promotion due to a lack of seating. Poole went on to finish fifth. Poole struggled throughout the 2017- 18 season, finding themselves on the final day relegated to the Southern League South. The 2018-19 season was a successful one with Poole Town winning the Dorset Senior Cup and finishing 5th in the league only to lose to Met Police in the final of the play offs. Poole Town operates with 32 Youth Teams, Under 18’s, Development Squad, Two Ladies sides, Walking Football for the over 50’s and a Disability That Counts Section and have placed ourselves at the hub of our local community.
