Foundation explores sponsoring river cruise in Southern France By RADM (Ret.) Smoke Hickman, History and Heritage Chair

The Foundation has opened discussions with representatives from Viking River Cruises in the United States to explore a Foundation sponsored river cruise in Europe in late June 2014. We’re currently looking at a river cruise in Southern France from Avignon, near Nice, to Chalon-sur- Saone, near Lyon. (Go to www.vikingrivercruises. com for more information)

If we can assure the company of either 150 or 200 Image courtesy of Viking Cruises passengers, we can get a significant price break. With that number, they will dedicate a riverboat entirely to the Foundation. If we can’t fill the entire boat, they will still give the Foundation special pricing. We tried to pick a date in the summer that would not impact college graduations, summer vacations, etc. We realize that it is a long way off, but planning is essential. Right now we would like to get a “wind chill” and family, please let us know. Also, any comments/ indication of interest. So if you are remotely interested suggestions are always welcome. Just e-mail the Foundation in this adventure, which is open to all members, friends, at [email protected]. The Oakleaf July 2012/2
