Carter elected SGA president in surprise rout It could have been one of the closest and most amusing races in Student Government Association history. Imagine it: a candidate with the same initials and last name as the president of the United States, and a candidate whose initials are SMS. But, once the votes were in and the ballots counted, the final tally on Monday's election didn't even seem interesting. Candidate Jeff Carter, in something of an upset, spoiled current SGA President Mark Seaman's re-election bid with a 774-to-429 rout. Carter's share of the 1,203 votes cast for president amounted to approximately 64 percent of the vote. (For more election results, see story below.)
