Diagnostic Notes **Adult** Forewing brownish grey, suffused with white; irregular postmedian and antemedian fasciae, discal marking and broken terminal line brown. Hindwing shining ochreous white; veins and terminal line yellowish brown. Head, thorax and abdomen brownish grey, suffused with greyish white; antennae simple, finely ciliate. **Egg** Oval; weakly sculptured. About 60-100 ova laid on foodstuff. **Larva** Head reddish brown, marked with black; body pinkish white; peritreme of spiracles reddish brown; pinacula small and pale or absent; abdominal segments 1-7 with greyish brown crescentic mark above seta SD1; prothoracic plate dark reddish brown; anal plate pale reddish brown or greyish brown, indistinct; thoracic legs reddish brown in part. **Pupa** Reddish brown; thorax with strongly raised dorsal ridge; dorsal surface of abdomen strongly punctate; abdominal segments 1-7 each with pair of dorsal, thorn-like projections, which sometimes bifurcate at the tips; cremaster terminating in two stout, downward-curving prongs. **References** - Carter, D.J.     Rapid Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) for: Euzophera bigella June 2018 Summary and conclusions of the rapid PRA Euzophera bigella is a moth found in much of Europe and parts of Asia, whose larvae (caterpillars) feed inside a variety of fruit and under the bark of a number of species of tree. Though there have been several adults caught in light traps in the UK, such records are very scarce and there is no evidence this species is established in any part of this country. Following the rapid screening of E. bigella via the UK Plant Health Risk Register, this PRA was requested to further assess the potential risk to the UK. This rapid PRA shows: Risk of entry The pathway of fruit (and nuts) is considered moderately likely, with medium confidence. Larvae have previously been found in imported fruit in the UK. If larvae were able to complete development inside the fruit, emerging adults would be capable of flying off and locating new hosts. The pathway of larvae under the bark of older trees for planting is considered moderately likely, with medium confidence. Larvae under the bark of younger, smaller trees is assessed as unlikely with medium confidence, as infestations produce swellings and cracks in the bark which are more likely to be seen in smaller trees. The pathway of wood with bark is considered unlikely with low confidence. Confidence is low because a different species of Euzophera has recently travelled from the USA to Italy on this pathway. 1 The pathway of natural spread is considered very unlikely with low confidence.

Rabiria rufimaculella can be recognized by having two reddish-yellow and short bands near the postmedial and antemedial line, and by the bifurcate gnathos and the cornutus which is formed by numerous thorn-shaped sclerites in male genitalia. Copamyntis martimella can be distinguished with the congeners by the uniformly distributed setae on the sacculus and the curved aedeagus in male genitalia and the peanut-shaped signum near the middle of the corpus bursae in female genitalia. The adults and genitalia of the species are redescribed and illustrated.   • Harper's Island Wetlands Butterflies & Moths (2020)
    Introduction Harper’s Island Wetlands (HIW) nature reserve, situated close to the village of Glounthaune on the north shore of Cork Harbour is well known for its birds, many of which come from all over northern Europe and beyond, but there is a lot more to the wildlife at the HWI nature reserve than birds. One of our goals it to find out as much as we can about all aspects of life, both plant and animal, that live or visit HIW. This is a report on the butterflies and moths of HIW. Butterflies After birds, butterflies are probably the one of the best known flying creatures. While there has been no structured study of them on at HIW, 17 of Ireland’s 33 resident and regular migrant species of Irish butterflies have been recorded. Just this summer we added the Comma butterfly to the island list. A species spreading across Ireland in recent years possibly in response to climate change. Hopefully we can set up regular monitoring of the butterflies at HIW in the next couple of years. Butterfly Species Recorded at Harper’s Island Wetlands up to September 2020. PLANT1*, STOYAN BESHKOV2, PREDRAG JAKŠIĆ3, ANA NAHIRNIĆ2 114 West Road, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 3QP, England 2National Museum of Natural History, Sofia, Bulgaria 3Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics, University of Priština, Kosovska Mitrovica, Serbia ABSTRACT Pyraloidea (Lepidoptera: Crambidae & Pyralidae) were sampled in the territories of southern Serbia, Montenegro, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Albania on a total of 53 occasions during 2014, 2016 and 2017. A total of 173 species is reported here, comprising 97 Crambidae and 76 Pyralidae. Based upon published data, 29 species appear to be new to the fauna of Serbia, 5 species are new to the fauna of Macedonia and 37 are new to the fauna of Albania. The data are discussed. ZooKeys 559: 125–137. doi: 10.3897/zookeys.559.6076 Abstract Only three species belonging to the genus Ectomyelois Heinrich, 1956 are recorded from China, of which two species, E. bipectinalis sp. n. and E. furvivena sp. n. are described as new. We discuss the status of Ectomyelois that has been treated as a junior synonym by previous authors; we treat it as a valid genus, revised status, based on characters of the venation and female genitalia. Photographs of the adults and illustrations of the genitalia are given, along with a key to the three known Chinese species.
