Datuk Bung Moktar bin Radin [Kinabatangan]: [Bercakap tanpa menggunakan pembesar suara] DR.25.9.2013 4 Tuan Yang di-Pertua: Ahli Yang Berhormat, tolong duduk Ahli Yang Berhormat. Ahli Yang Berhormat tidak ada hal dengan ini. Puan P. Kasthuriraani A/P Patto [Batu Kawan]: This is an absolute disrespect the House of August. See how they behave. Tuan Yang di-Pertua: Ahli Yang Berhormat tolong duduk Ahli Yang Berhormat. Datuk Seri Reezal Merican [Kepala Batas]: You are not respecting either. You are not respecting the Dewan either. Puan P. [Dewan riuh] Ahli Yang Berhormat yang di belakang sana tolong duduk. Ahli-ahli Yang Berhormat, kalaupun duduk jangan bising. [Dewan riuh] Ahli Yang Berhormat, tolong keluar Ahli Yang Berhormat. Datuk Juslie bin Haji Ajirol [Libaran]: Terima kasih Tuan Yang di-Pertua. Tuan Yang di-Pertua: Soalan-soalan tambahan selepas ini singkat, padat. Saya tidak mahu ada bunga-bunga. Sila Yang Berhormat. Datuk Juslie bin Haji Ajirol [Libaran]: Okey Tuan Yang di-Pertua. Tuan Yang di-Pertua: Jawapan daripada Menteri-Menteri pun padat. Jangan ada bunga-bunga lagi. Datuk Juslie bin Haji Ajirol [Libaran]: [Ketawa] Terima kasih Tuan Yang di- Pertua. Tahniah Tuan Yang di-Pertua kerana mengawal Dewan. Kalau saya pun berbuat demikian, Tuan Yang di-Pertua halau, tiada masalah. [Ketawa] Tuan Yang di-Pertua:

  • Guan Eng Can't Tell Right from Wrong Malaysiakini.Com Feb 5, 2014
Wanita MCA: Guan Eng can't tell right from wrong MalaysiaKini.com Feb 5, 2014 Wanita MCA chair Heng Seai Kie has taken DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to task for "defending the indefensible" as the war of words escalates over Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's stirring video work. Heng said Lim was "incapable of differentiating right and wrong" as he could not see the havoc wreaked by Kok's Chinese New Year 11-minute clip, which satires the political situation in the country. Amidst uproar by a few Umno cabinet ministers and police investigations, Lim - who is also Penang chief minister - had said yesterday that he saw "nothing amiss" with the video and considered BN's exaggerated outrage a mere political ploy. But Heng (right) begged to differ, saying that the video published on the Internet on Jan 27 "will not only destroy the country's image, but also affect foreign investment and tourism which will impact the national economy, victimise the rakyat and the nation". "If Lim can spend some time and watch the video and also read the feedback from netizens, he will understand how Kok's video has created controversies and differences among the people, especially between the Malays and Chinese. "Thanks to the video, Kok cannot run away from contributing to the polarisation of the people and jeopardising national unity," Heng stressed in a statement. She damned the video, which features Kok as a talk-show host interviewing a "panel of experts" on what to expect in the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse.

He was found guilty on both counts and sentenced, in 1999 and 2000 respectively, to a total of 15 years in prison. On 2 September 2004, the Federal Court quashed the conviction in the sodomy case and ordered Mr. Anwar Ibrahim’s release, as he had already served his sentence in the abuse of power case. • The Practice of Public Accounts Committee in the Parliament of Malaysia Siti Fahlizah Padlee*
The Practice of Public Accounts Committee in the Parliament of Malaysia Siti Fahlizah Padlee* Abstract The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Malaysia is a permanent committee made up of members from Malaysia’s House of Representative, the Dewan Rakyat, and has grown in function since its establishment in 1959. The PAC initially served as a financial oversight body to check the financial procedures and performance accountability of executive bodies. Then, it started to pursue a series of reforms to make it more effective and accountable. Therefore, this research explores the current practices of the PAC in the Parliament of Malaysia pertaining to the appointment of its Chairman. It also analyses the implementation of two types of new meetings and identifies the relationship between the PAC with other stakeholders. The research employed a case study with an exploratory, descriptive approach using data collected from published reports of PAC meetings from 2017 to 2020, the PAC’s official website, interviews with a parliamentary officer-in-charge of handling the PAC, as well as international and local newspapers such as The Straits Times and The Edge. The research found that changes in the appointment of the Chairman have not affected the PAC reports as the core task of a Chairman is to set the committee’s agenda with consultation from the committee and Auditor General, as well as to ensure that the reports are released. The two new types of meeting (i.e. verification meeting and response reporting meeting) are crucial to enhance the PAC performance. Furthermore, the seven ex-officio possess prominent roles to provide and check the validity of data.

The Deputy Home Minister later claimed that the statement was taken out of context, but there is 18 March no context in which it is appropriate to allow the issue of ethnicity to subjugate the very universal problem of child rape. It is also an issue that someone of this high standing in Parliament is seemingly attempting to sweep this beneath the carpet, instead of treating it as an issue that needs serious attention.

  • New MH370 Search Ops May Cost RM296
New MH370 search ops may cost RM296 MALAYSIA may fork up to US$70 million (RM296 million) in new search missions for missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370. Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi said the government, through the MH370 response team, was in talks with international subsea exploration company Ocean Infinity on the use of latest technology to search for the plane. Negotiations with the United State company include the cost of conducting the search for the Boeing 777 aircraft. “The government is in the process of evaluating fees to be paid for search missions. Ocean Infinity has offered to provide search missions on a ‘no cureno pay’ basis (payment depends upon success and the recovery of property),” Ab Aziz said. He said the negotiations touched on other aspects, including payment terms and schedule, such as whether fees would be paid after the wreckage of the plane was found. He said it was required that the wreckage be certified as MH370 by the plane’s manufacturer, Boeing. “These details are being looked into as the cost is high,” he said in a reply to Dr Tan Seng Giaw (DAP-Kepong) during the minister’s question and answer session at Dewan Rakyat. Tan had asked if the government embarked on new efforts to locate the aircraft. Ab Aziz said Malaysia, Australia and China, in line with the spirit of tripartite cooperation, would consider further search operations should there be new, credible leads. He said the final report of investigations was being prepared. The report will be issued within one year from the suspension of the search operation, which was announced on July 22 last year.

  • Offer Malaysiakini.Com Feb 8, 2014 Sarawak DAP Wants the Police To
Shocked by PM's silence over 'money for slap' offer MalaysiaKini.com Feb 8, 2014 Sarawak DAP wants the police to act against the NGO that offered a cash reward for slapping Seputeh MP Teresa Kok. “It has never happened in Malaysia where a person offers a reward to commit crime,” Sarawak DAP chairperson Chong Chieng Jen said. Chong, who is the MP for Bandar Kuching, urged this after lodging a report at the Simpang Tiga police station in Kuching yesterday against the NGOs which slaughtered four chickens in Kuala Lumpur and smeared the blood on a banner bearing photographs of opposition leaders. At the protest, the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) offered a reward of RM500 - and later increased it to RM1,200 - to anyone who slaps the MP and provides photographic evidence of this.
