ATR VERDICT: A fascinating renewal in which 2000 Guineas winner , Irish 2,000 Guineas winner AWTAAD and French 2000 Guineas winner The Gurkha all line up in their bid for three-year-old top honours. Add to that last year's impressive Champagne Stakes winner Emotionless and recent Sandown scorer Zonderland and there could be fireworks when these colts turn for home. Presumably the connections of Kevin Prendergast's Curragh scorer Awtaad will have welcomed the rain that has fallen in recent days as he won the Irish 2,000 Guineas on yielding ground and had the Newmarket standard-setter some two and a half lengths back in second. The son of Cape Cross gets the verdict and might not be done improving yet, but you cannot completely overlook Aidan O'Brien's The Gurkha, who bolted up at Deauville on soft, confirming the deep impression he had previously created at Navan.

ATR VERDICT: RODERICK RANDOM is an intriguing debutant for Dan Skelton having joined from Johnny Farrelly. The six-year-old has been off the track for 12 months, but a low handicap mark of 85 could be workable for a yard with a reputation for improving horses. Edgar will likely be popular in the betting after posting his best ever effort over fences at Huntingdon last month. David Bridgwater's charge loved the step up in trip and is entitled to have come on for that outing, which was just his third over the larger obstacles. Detank has been doing most of his winning in the point-to-point sphere and faces a completely different task here.

ATR VERDICT: MUSTIQUE shaped well on her reappearance at Ripon earlier this month and looked as though winning off a similar mark would be entirely possible. The three-year-old deserves respect as the most unexposed contender in the field, and can take this ahead of recent Nottingham winner The Commendatore, who relished the quick ground on his turf debut. Manatee Bay is a consistent sort who is only 2lb above his last winning mark, and he should be thereabouts once more.

ATR VERDICT: A typically competitive renewal of this Listed event. Wesley Ward has taken this race twice since 2009, which means that Big City Dreamin merits the utmost respect, but the ground could have gone against her if the forecast rain appears. Drafted is another US challenger but he would have the same question marks regarding the surface. On the other hand, MISTER TRADER has already proven himself on soft ground and the form of his second in a Listed race at the Curragh last time may well have been boosted as the winner, Caravaggio, is strongly fancied for the Coventry earlier in the day. On that occasion the son of Hellvelyn had Ambiguity and Ready To Roc well behind him. The likes of Battaash, Kananee and Tomily look to be the pick of the home team, while Yulong Baobei is another Irish raider to note. Of those at bigger prices, Copper Knight and Full Intention could run well.

ATR VERDICT: AFANDEM was a ready winner of a Doncaster novice stake on his racecourse debut but couldn't go the pace of Yalta when sent off at cramped odds for a similar contest at Goodwood last time. That form doesn't look too bad now, though, given Mark Johnston's charge won at Pontefract on his second start and was deemed good enough to contest the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier today. Hugo Palmer's charge can get back to winning ways at the main expense of Espresso Freddo and Haulani.

The five-year-old ran a blinder off the same mark when second in a Wolverhampton handicap two starts back and if reproducing that level of form, he will go very close. Satchville Flyer is a big danger judged on his third-placed effort at Dunstall Park last month and Zephyros is another to note.

ATR VERDICT: Given his breeding you would assume that BEAR VALLEY will get much further than this 7f trip in the future, but this represents a fair enough starting point. Mark Johnston's string have known their jobs on debut so far this season, and he can boast an excellent record at this venue. Roar made a promising debut behind a well-regarded Richard Hannon colt last time out and should have come on for that, while Ann Duffield has a couple of intriguing entries in Mayleen and Miss Bates, with the latter holding a stakes entry later in the season.
