Naturally, the state has mesmerizing wate alls, pitch dark caves, sacred jungles, several lakes, high hills, and valleys. Three main tribes namely the Khasi, Pnar, and Garo for the inhabitants of Meghalaya and are known to be friendly people who speak good English as it is their o cial language. It is a famous tourist destination among couples who want a romantic getaway or adventure seekers for seductive and dangerous trails.

THE PLAN IN DETAIL
Day 1 Reach Guwahati and Transfer to Shillong via Umiam Lake
Meet upon arrival at Guwahati Airpo / Railway Station. A er the initial introduction, we travel to Shillong which is famously known as the Scotland of the East and is at an altitude of 4908 feet above sea level. We will explore Cafes and Local market of Shillong in the evening. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 2 Shillong to Cherrapunji via Laitlum
Breakfast will be served in the morning. A er that, the group will head towards Cherrapunji (4,400 .), the we est place in the world. En route, the group will visit Elephanta falls and Shillong peak for a sho sightseeing tour.
The rest of the day will be spent visiting wate alls between Shillong and Cherapunjee followed by exploring Mawsmai cave in the evening. Overnight stay at Cherrapunji.
Day 3 Trek to Double Decker Bridge
Post breakfast, the group will head for trekking towards one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites - Double Decker Living Roots Bridge. If time permits, we shall go exploring and trekking to the Rainbow Falls as well.
We will be returning back to Cherrapunji by evening and staying overnight there.
Day 4 Trek back to Tyrna & Drive to Mawlynnong
We wake up, have breakfast, a er which we'll explore the various places in Cherrapunji including the two cave sites, the Nohkalkai wate all, and the seven sister falls. Later on, we'll continue on the road-trip fu her to Mawlynnong, also known as Asia’s Cleanest Village. A erward, we'll drive to Dawki, from there the India-Bangladesh Border is just 2 hours away. In here, you can roam around in between the India-Bangladesh border which is an unbarbed area free of any strict army vigilance, unlike most border areas.
Finally, we'll head down to our riverside camps. We'll spend a night with dinner, barbeque, and bon re at Dawki.
Day 5 Dawki to Shillong
A er breakfast, the rest of the day is for adventure activities.The group will head o for adventure activities including cli jumping, kayaking, snorkeling, and more. Except for these three activities, anything else would be at a personal expense.
Later, we'll drive back to Shillong with an evening at leisure. We are free to explore the city in the evening as this will be the last day for the Meghalaya backpacking trip and by this time, we would have already covered all our itinerary checkpoints.
Overnight Stay at Shillong.
Day 6 Shillong to Guwahati
Breakfast will be served in the morning. Post breakfast, the group will drive from Shillong to Guwahati. On reaching Guwahati, you can head back home according to your own convenience. The tour ends and we'll conclude our Meghalaya backpacking trip.
*You are advised to book ights for Day 6 as the group will be reaching Guwahati around 5 PM, booking your ight tickets accordingly.

Here’s the cancellation policy for Himalayan Treks/Backpacking Trips/Road Trips - If you cancel before 30 days – 90% of the amount will be refunded - If you cancel between 20 -30 days – 75% % of the amount will be refunded - If you cancel between 15-19 days – 50% of the amount will be refunded - If you cancel between 7-14 days – 25% of the amount will be refunded - If you cancel between 0- 7 days before the depa ure date – No amount would be refunded. What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops?
This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to sta something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited
They sta ed their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which ampli ed their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps ge ing bigger every day!
