Her mother can’t stop crying, Bethany is dropped off to stay with an aunt she never knew existed, and her parents seem to have abandoned her. AUTHOR’S BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Born in Midwest, Margaret Peterson Haddix dreamed of being an author, a career that not too many individuals she knew had. So throughout her life, most of her careers revolved around writing. As a journalist, Ms. Haddix gathered many of the ideas from the people she interviewed to the circumstances surrounding the why’s she met these people. Detailed comments on each book are provided to help adults discern the appropriateness of reading for the student and suggested grade levels are included. Criteria for evaluation and ratings are explained in detail. Also available on Chinuch.org: List of New Books Added in 2012, and List of Appropriate books (for children to take to library). A separate Classics Analysis List, which discusses books frequently assigned in schools, is also available. All lists are available as editable Excel and pdf files. Goals/Objectives: Parents and teachers will be able to provide appropriate reading for their children and students. Instructions: 1. Read carefully through the cover sheet to understand the rationale and methods behind this book list. 2. Make sure to only give out to students the approved book list without the comments. 3.
