After achieving its aim to expand across Europe by the start of 2013, Lyoness’ focus turned to incorporating a new company, Lyoness International AG, consolidating its subsidiaries and launching a multi-brand strategy – all part of its comprehensive plan for growth. Since 2014, there has been further restructuring: Lyoness International AG is now supported by the service company Lyoness Group AG, which is responsible for product development, service and support. Headquar- tered in Switzerland, Lyoness International AG serves as a holding company to manage the global business by looking after the four continental companies under which all the national subsidiaries are distributed. Its main responsibilities are supporting Lyoness Members, Loyalty Merchants and Lyconet Marketers in all of the individual countries. Lyoness Group AG Lyoness Group AG is based in Graz, Austria, where it performs a range of different services for the Lyo- ness group. The employees and managers at Lyoness Group AG work in a wide array of fields, ranging from product development and IT to marketing and service. They provide important support for Lyoness companies all over the world. „Our goal was to set up a centre of expertise made up of all the departments needed for the technical development of Lyoness products“ explains CEO Hubert Freidl. „This approach has enabled us to make our company even more efficient and even more innovative.“ 3 BRANDS & BUSINESS AREAS Shopping Community, Customer Loyalty Programme and Network Marketing Business The Lyoness Group of companies is an international business comprising three main seg- ments; a shopping community, a customer loyalty programme and a network marketing business. In 2014, the Lyoness Group underwent a significant restructuring process with a view to improving communication with and services to all target groups, dividing these three main segments into two separate brands; Lyoness and Lyconet. Lyoness forms the foundation of the Lyoness Group and incorporates two key areas of business: • An international multi-sector community for shoppers • A customer loyalty programme for businesses Lyoness works with businesses, mainly from the retail and service sectors, who agree to join the loyalty programme as Loyalty Merchants, and with whom are negotiated special discounted shopping conditions. These are passed on to Lyoness Members when they shop at Loyalty Merchants, in the form of shopping benefits (including “Cashback” and “Shopping Points”), thus providing businesses with their own Customer Loyalty Programme and shoppers with a Shopping Community. Cashback With every purchase made at a Loyalty Merchant, a Member will receive up to 5% of the purchase value as Cashback at LYONESS.COM. Once 5 euros or more has accumulated (amount varies by country), this money is transferred automatically into his private bank account. Shopping Points In addition to Cashback, Lyoness Members will also receive Shopping Points for every purchase made at a Loyalty Merchant. Shopping Points can be redeemed in exchange for exclusive deals on selected products and services. The number of Shopping Points received per purchase is dependent on its total value, in line with the conditions predetermined by the Loyalty Merchant in question. 7 SHOPPING WITH LYONESS Lyoness Members receive up to 5% Cashback and Shopping Points, as an overall percentage of the total purchase value, every time they shop at a Loyalty Merchant – saving money really is that simple! Each Member has access to an online personal profile at LYONESS.COM, where he can check the current status and balance of his shopping benefits at any time. The Lyoness Cashback Card is designed to be used in a similar way to other advantage cards, whilst collecting Cashback in Members’ online cash accounts. The Prepaid Lyoness MasterCard® is a prepaid debit card with the added functionality of a Cashback Card: Lyoness Members can use the Prepaid Lyoness MasterCard® to make payments as well as receive Cashback at participating Loyalty Merchants. Vouchers provide Members with another form of cashless payment that allows them to save money at participating Loyalty Merchants. Vouchers can be ordered and purchased from a number of Voucher Selling Points, or from Members’ local Lyoness Office. Lyoness Members can also save money when shopping online. The Lyoness online shopping portal at LYONESS.COM provides Members with easy access to their favourite online Loyalty Merchants and purchases are tracked automatically, making it even easier to benefit! Networking is one of the direct forms of sales based on a business model whereby a company distributes products through distributors who earn revenue through retail. The distributor earns not only sales but also the recruitment of other distributors. The article analyzes the concept of network markings, which companies engage in network marketing. INTRODUCTION Network marketing is a marketing tool that encourages the use of a particular product among friends. The popularity of networking is increasing due to the availability of modern social networks. Social networks have previously been online, but companies like Facebook, Twitter and Likedln have made them tangible. Various forms of marketing were used to make the dream a reality. Hundreds of thousands of people in free world countries are engaging in this remarkable field of activity. Reasons are simple enough: network marketing is the possibility given to everyone, regardless of education, experience, marital status, gender or age. It is the way to wealth and success in their own business, personal life, the opportunity to help other people and, of course, personal development. Network marketing is a form of direct sales, when an independent distributor sells products usually at the customer's home or by telephone. Theoretically, distributors can earn not only from sales, but also from the people they recruit (Barett, 2008).

In pyramid schemes, however, the victims themselves are induced to recruit further victims through the payment of recruitment commissions. More specifically, pyramid schemes—also referred to as franchise fraud or chain referral schemes—are marketing and investment frauds in which an individual is offered a distributorship or franchise to market a particular product. The real profit is earned, not by the sale of the product, but by the sale of new distributorships. Emphasis on selling franchises rather than the product eventually leads to a point where the supply of potential investors is exhausted and the pyramid collapses. At the heart of each pyramid scheme is typically a representation that new participants can recoup their original investments by inducing two or more prospects to make the same investment. Promoters fail to tell prospective participants that this is mathematically impossible for everyone to do, since some participants drop out, while others recoup their original investments and then drop out. 1 What is a Pyramid Scheme?
