Together with its development and spreading its importance grows as well. However previously conducted research on floorball from its managerial point of view is rare, especially on an international scale. The present investigation makes an attempt to fill this gap in a holistic manner. It explores the research problem of finding the potentials of floorball as a sustainably successful sport – worldwide and in the case country, Bulgaria. For this purpose the study utilizes the tasks of collecting and systematizing existing relevant data, binding floorball to theoretical frameworks of contemporary science and observing its development level and current issues globally and locally. The research uses a qualitative, ethnographic approach to obtain its goals, and includes participant observation, unstructured and semi-structured interviews. Data is analysed through a combination of qualitative analysis tools – thematic analysis, discourse analysis, content analysis, visual data analysis, etc. The primary data has been gathered in Finland, as well as in Bulgaria and consists of observation of key events and interaction with key informants.

    Ball Hockey Rules The object of the game quite simply is to strike the ball with the hockey stick and knock it into the opponent's hockey net (6 feet wide x 4 feet high, 1.83 m x 1.22 m). Typically, a low-bounce type of ball is used. For added safety, hockey gloves and helmets are recommended, and in fact are mandatory for play in our member leagues. Any size or type of non-slip flooring can be used as a playing field. In Canada, most of our leagues operate in hockey arenas or gymnasiums. All CBHA provincial, regional and national events are held in full sized hockey arenas (generally around 200 feet long x 85 feet wide, 60.96 m x 25.91 m). When played on the surface of a hockey rink, six players, including the goalie, compete against the opposing team's six players. Extra players are usually kept on each bench, outside the playing surface, and interchanged with the six on the floor either during play or at a stoppage of play. When played on smaller surfaces, fewer players can be used during play. In its simplest form, the game can be played without floor markings and few rules. However, in organized competition regular ice hockey floor markings are used, including goal lines, goal creases, blue lines, center line, face-off circles and neutral zone face-off dots.The following are additional rules: • Face-offs (players are lined up facing each other in a designated area on the floor), are used at the start of each period of play and after goals, penalties, icing, offside, or when the ball leaves the playing area.

    LETTER FROM the president Greetings! As we start to shake off the cold from winter, we are all hoping that 2021 treats us better than 2020 did! We have been living in some strange times. One thing that remains the same is ball hockey and how much we all love to play. The rinks are opening back up faster than we can keep up and 2021 is kicking in gear. There have been a few things of note from over the winter and into the spring. I am proud to announce that since USABH registration has opened, we have had thousands of registrants enjoying the benefits of being a USABH member. As leagues begin to open back up, registrations are pouring in. This was a monumental effort by a great many people. Even more importantly, a big shout out to the league owners that have embraced the USABH vision. This unprecedented unification of our sport is truly amazing. I am looking forward to what the rest of the year brings and beyond. Another item worth mentioning is the unbelievable response we have gotten in regard to our new referee certification program and our coaching certification program. The response from this has been far greater than we were expecting. We have even had guests from across the globe attending our referee certification program from the UK and Pakistan. Again, there was a great deal that went into this. Huge credit goes out to our Referee in Chief, Mike Wahbi and our Director of Hockey Operations, Cory Herschk for leading in these efforts.

    LETTER FROM the president Greetings USA Ball Hockey Family, On behalf of everyone at USA Ball Hockey, we hope that everyone is doing their best to get through the challenges facing all of us in these strange times. We have all had to make many sacrifices this year, but we are Americans, and Americans have a tendency to come out of the ashes better than they did going into the fire. We are confident that our lives will be back to normal very soon. Some very good news to report from the international ball hockey community. After several meetings, the ISBHF was able to move all events from 2020 to 2021. We were able to secure the same arenas, the same hotels, and even made the players age eligible in 2021 as long as they were eligible in 2020. In other international news, the Finnish Ball Hockey Association has been officially recognized by the Finnish Olympic Committee. This adds yet another nation that is recognized by their Olympic Committee in the ISBHF family of nations. This is another huge step towards the ISBHF’s long term goal of gaining Olympic Recognition. Here in the USA, I am happy to announce that we are inching closer to being open for player registration for the 2021 calendar year. Safety, security, fair play, and overall organization of the sport is paramount to all of us at USABH. We are in the midst of accomplishing something that this sport has never seen.
