Sports Economy Sports Economy Colorado Springs, Olympic City USA, is often referred to as the Amateur Sports Capital of the United States. The crown jewel of the sports economy in Colorado Springs is unquestionably the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). Along with the USOPC headquarters and the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center (OPTC), more than 20 National Governing Bodies (NGB) are headquartered here including: USA Cycling, USA Hockey, USA Swimming and others. Including the USOPC and NGB’s, Colorado Springs is home to more than 60 national or international sports organizations. Some 15,000 athletes train at the OPTC on a short-term basis each year, with another 130 training full time through the resident athlete program. Colorado Springs is also home to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum, which broke ground in 2018. Opening in 2020, the Museum will become a premier destination, welcoming people from near and far, and of all ages and backgrounds, to come together in the spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Other Colorado Springs sports highlights include: • Colorado Springs hosts national and world-class sports events such as the U.S. Women’s Open, U.S. Senior Open, the World Cycling Championships, and the USA Boxing National Championships and many others. • The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, an annual automobile and motorcycle hillclimb to the summit of Pikes Peak. The track measures 12.42 miles, and includes more than 156 turns on grades averaging 7.2 percent. • Facilities, including the U.S. Air Force Academy, The Broadmoor World Arena and the OPTC Velodrome, host events year-round.     CLUB INSURANCE Frequently Asked Questions RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES COVID-19 VERSION 1 MAY 21, 2020 INTRODUCTION One of USA Field Hockey’s core values is the safety, health and well-being of all members and of the field hockey community. The organization is committed to supporting clubs and members in returning to training and competition as soon as it is safe to do so. The purpose of this document is to provide USA Field Hockey Members with information they can use to assist with planning their Return to Play protocols as restrictions related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) are lifted in areas throughout the country. Having a system in place to reduce outbreaks is critical to navigating the next phase of this pandemic. Many of the recommendations in this document are based upon rules and regulations, guidelines and considerations set forth by public health authorities in support of sports organizations. The phases and timings of Return to Play will differ across the country. It is the responsibility of each program director, coach and facility staff member to know their local restrictions and enforce policies and procedures intended to keep all participants and parties safe. The recommendations in this document are meant as guidance only and must be used in conjunction with federal, state and local government health agencies rules and regulations. Given the fluid nature of this situation, USA Field Hockey will continue to monitor the information from federal, state and local health authorities, and will provide updates to the field hockey communities as available.     Chapter 7 National Championships 149 7. Championships The following sections apply to National Championships in the disciplines and age groups specified. See section 7J for specific differences between National Championships and State Championships 7A. Organization 7A1. The rights to organize National Championships may be awarded to local Race Directors who meet the requirements established by the CEO. 7A2. Massed start races with fewer than 10 participants may be combined with another category at the discretion of USA Cycling and the Chief Referee with riders being scored separately at the end of the event. 7A3. In National Championship events, the defending National Champion (in that event) shall be given highest priority in call-ups except if the event is run under UCI rules. In track events where heats are required, the defending National Champion must compete in the heats. 7A4. Para-cycling National Championships for cyclists with disabilities may be held in conjunction with other national championships. Classifications of para-cycling riders and regulations of competition will follow the Functional Classification System outlined by the UCI. 7B. National Championship Eligibility 7B1. National Championships are open only to riders who hold USA Cycling rider annual licenses or recognized license from a UCI affiliated federation, and meet other qualifications stated in these rules. (a) National Championships for Junior 17-18, Under 23, and Elites may only be entered by US Citizens with a USA racing nationality. (b) Regardless of any general rule pertaining to National Championship eligibility, any National Championship that is a direct qualifier for the World Championships or Olympic Games may only be entered by riders who are eligible under 150 international regulations to enter those events as part of the U.S.
