I also have an AE1 not Program. Theres not really much particularly better or worse about them except maybe available shutter speeds or manual and aperture priority availability. Film and lenses determine the pictures either one can take. The wifi symbol is a mode that supposed to beep at you if youre not in focus or in a shutter speed slow enough that motion blur could result. I wouldnt use this mode; its pretty annoying. You also get this feature in Program Auto mode too the green square mode to the right of Lock. To set the timer, pull open the lower flap on the back of the camera, press the blue button with the timer icon, use the dial by the shutter button to set the timer. You only get 10 sec.And I have an AE1 Program. I personally prefer the 650 since you can use modern EF lenses, but hey, thats me. As for tips, theres nothing really quirky about this camera ive seen.http://artpolinakuzina.ru/pict/hp-12c-30th-anniversary-financial-calculator-manual.xml

August 2009 Learn how and when to remove this template message Canon had made a few manual focus pellicle mirror SLR bodies previously, including the Pellix, Pellix QL, and special limitedproduction made for professional photographers at the 1972 and 1984 Olympic Games the F1 and New F1 High Speed Motor Drive models respectively. When taking a picture with a typical SLR camera, the mirror must flip upwards to move out of the way to allow light to pass from the lens to the film plane or digital . The camera also must have a slight delay between when the shutter release button is pressed, and when the shutter actually opens to allow time for the mirror to move. Quiet operation, low vibration, absence of blackout, and fast response are features usually associated with rangefinder cameras, as these cameras have no mirror reflex system between the lens and the film. Therefore, the mirror does not need to move when a picture is taken. Having an uninterrupted view through the finder is especially helpful when trying to pan the camera and keep moving objects in the viewfinder, or during sports photography.

Although the viewfinder does not blackout, it can however go very dim as the lens stops down to the taking aperture, so this advantage is greater at wider apertures. A less reflective mirror might be used, but then the viewfinder would be darker and harder to use. The advantages of a stationary mirror are less important now that modern cameras can move the mirror back and forth very quickly, reducing the shutter release lag and increasing the amount of time the viewfinder is usable. The EOS1v with PBE2 power booster 2000 release and the EOS1D Mark III are capable of sustaining 10 frames per second burst rates without the use of a pellicle mirror. Finally, the pellicle mirror also degrades lens resolution. Early tests performed by Modern Photography magazine showed that Canon film cameras with conventional mirrors produce sharper images than Canon cameras with a pellicle mirror.By using this site, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I use NCPS to process and scan all my film.I never get that percentage of keepers on newer cameras; I waste too many pictures dicking with their settings. The EOS 650 is the camera from which all Canon SLRs and DSLRs descend. For example, todays 5D Mark II takes the same eyecups and has its controls in the same places. Whether you like it or not, it has exactly the same uncomfortable front control dial as todays EOS DSLRs from the Rebels to the 5D Mark II and 1Ds Mk III. It adds a faster shutter, shiftable program, exposure bracketing, multiple exposures and the worlds first electroluminescent LCD illuminator. It lacks the confusing depthoffield priority mode of the EOS 650. The EOS 650 is wonderful, but get the EOS 620 if you have the choice. Nothing, no menus, no custom functions, nor anything else needs to be twiddled to make a picture because they are designed properly. All you do is compose and shoot, exactly as photography should be.

The Canon EOS 620 and EOS 650 are solidly built SLRs with big, sharp glassprism viewfinders, which are bigger and with less distractions than even the fullframe 5D Mark II ! If you want third stops, change the ISO, and if you want sixth stops, use both. Of course actual automatic exposure is stepless. There are no IR sensors inside the camera to fog IR film, as there are with newer EOS cameras. They are not sloppy hacks like first attempts at AF cameras. To sell more cameras. Each year, no matter how great a product, every company, except for LEICA, feels the need to pile on more silly features to get people to buy more cameras. I write the guidebooks, and even I have to refer to them to figure out basics like where to find the self timer on newer cameras. Newer EOS cameras are nice, but not necessarily better while definitely more complicated. They all work perfectly. , crippled by needing to pacify pros who had more invested in lenses than cameras and who knew how to focus, tried to make an autofocus system that could work with the existing lens mount. Theyve never come back, although the Nikon D3 is winning them. This is why different Nikon AF, AFS and G lenses are not compatible with each other, while all Canon EOS lenses are. Even after 23 years, Nikons AFS and G lenses are only partly caught up to Canons EF lenses from the 1980s. Ha hah! This is why the depthoffield preview of all Canon EOS cameras is instantaneous, almost silent, and stops down to the exact aperture chosen by the cameras meter, while Nikons today still make huge clunking and shutter sounds as you use the DOF buttons. It took Nikon about another decade to figure out how to get the DOF button to stop down to the actual shooting aperture, instead of simply stopping all the way down. Comparing the EOS 620 the F4, the F4 has the pro build quality demanded by pros, but had crappy autofocus with Nikons slow, mechanical AF lenses of the time.

EOS 650 is the same, minus one of the two small unmarked buttons at the top right. enlarge. They vary by lens focal length and even by aperture. No big deal; if you dislike it, just shift it on the EOS 620. Both use thyristors for fast recycling at closer distances. It uses a separate xenon tube behind an IRpass red filter to fire the ranging pings. Its so complex that even Canon made so many mistakes in the users manual that it had to include a multipage errata. If you can figure it out, it bounces and has the same pingbased advanced predictive metering and shootfastwhilerecycling modes as the simpler flashes. No remote connector. I dont think even the Germans ever envisioned this level of torture. There is also a special keyboard for it Keyboard Unit E, and an Interface Unit TB lets yo plug it into a personal computer. You only can focus on one thing at a time anyway, so the single AF sensor is plenty. There is no magic mode that selects between them, which is called AI Servo in newer models. So its easier to switch between these two modes than it is to find the menu to swap among three or more modes in newer cameras. This is what makes these cameras such winners. The finder is bright and sharp. Tap the left button near it on the back to light it up at night on the EOS 620. The EOS finder LCD varies its brightness automatically, so its always visible in any light. Frame count shows only on the top LCD, not in the finder. Film advance makes a moderate level of noise with a moderate level of refinement. Low vibration contributes to sharper handheld shots. Its not littered with black boxes and dots all over like newer Canons; its just a big, sharp, clear rectangle in which you can compose. It only reads down to 8 seconds at ISO 400. Use the blind integral with the original strap. If anything, it errs on the side of overexposure, which is bad for slides but great for prints.

The only thing it cant do well is shoot into mirrors where the flash sees itself — for that you need Nikons flash system and D lenses. These flashes, with either the EOS 620 or EOS 650 cameras, make a system so smart that it sets the aperture automatically depending on ambient light and distance! This is how it premeters the subject and distance before you press the shutter, so there are no shutterdelaying and subjectblinking bright white preflashes of todays systems. The flash system is already locked, loaded and ready to fire the instant you press the shutter. No more will you have overexposed closeups or dark distant shots. You can see this work by noting that the flashs ready light first lights green, then red. If you pay close attention, youll see the cameras chosen aperture get smaller as the flash continues recharging! You never have more than about a second of downtime, even after a fullpower dump. It deals with everything Ive mentioned automatically so you dont have to. Elegance doesnt sell well to most people, so we have systems today that no one can figure out. For the low price of these cameras, its almost worth having one around just to test 2CR5 batteries under load. It uses the same EOS EB eyecups as many of Canons newest cameras today, like the 5D Mk II. Today, Canon would pop on magnesium covers instead of plastic to impress the innocent. Needless to say, 22 years later, it still works perfectly. This causes only half the photo to get exposed! If one breaks, your camera drops. See straps for other suggestions. Everything is already set up the way you want it. Bravo! Just load and shoot. Use the A mode if you want to fiddle with settings. If it does, its indicating a malfunction. Clever, eh Its not smart enough to drop those speeds if you have IS on, even though IS does work with these cameras. The back pops open. If the leader is poking out too far, wind it back into the cassette first. The camera countsdown on the top LCD.

To cancel the self timer, turn off the camera or tap the battery check button. To select manual, slide the switch on the lens. This is usually instant, but if the camera takes a moment, it wont lock until it gets it perfect. The shutter only fires once focus is locked, which is usually instantly. If you are shooting in the C Continuous shutter mode, all the shots get made at one locked focus distance, which is probably silly. AF hunts for a second, after which it rapidly blinks the AF OK dot in the finder to warn you. It keeps It still works, but you need to wait until AF locks before turing the MF ring.Exposure isnt locked. Servo works best for one shot at a time as a subject approaches you smoothly; unlike newer cameras, it cant track moving subjects if youre also shooting them at 3FPS in C, continuous shutter mode. For that, shoot a modern digital camera. Use ONE SHOT mode and let it lock first. Each of these meters does what it needs to do perfectly. This saves the time of changing meter modes and exposure locks; Canon does all of this with one push. In Single mode, it takes a new reading for each shot even if you keep pressing. Read the mode on the top LCD. There is only one set of value on the EOS 650. Instead, it displays OP, oo and CL. To use it, you do some screwy stuff to point the camera at the near and far points and record it. It takes four pages in the manual pp. 3841 to explain how to do it, so Im not going to try it here. I dont understand how this is supposed to be more convenient than not using this feature. This is so much easier than Nikons menus. In Tv mode the aperture will also be set magically for distance and ambient light based on the cameras meter and the IR pings from the flash.Just tap the shutter to wake them up. The normal position, with the rectangle around it, sets the flash to go off at the start of each exposure. I set it to rear, the right position as seen in the photo, so the flash fires at the end of each exposure.

This way anything that blurs during a longer exposure has the blur behind the subject, making motion look correct. All it does is fires at full power each time, even though it does set its zoom properly. Youll see AEB on the top LCD. You may now release the buttons. This sets the difference in stops between each frame. It does this even in Single advance mode. You can go to 9. If youre doing fireworks, no problem, but if the sky or anything else lights up the whole frame, dialin 1.0 for two exposures, 1.5 for three or 2.0 stops for four additive exposures. After 30 seconds, a bar from the film indicator lights, and starts again at 0. Since there are three bars, you can get to 120 seconds this way. The EOS 650 is similar, and I prefer the shiftable program of the EOS 620. You might want to consider a newer Rebel if you prefer lighter weight in exchange for lower durability and a dinkier finder. Im ashamed that Ive fallen for all the marketing pitches that made me think I need whatever useless newer features have come out since 1987; I havent needed any of these features. If youve got an unused camera you might like to send my way, go right ahead. Thanks! Ken. Its great people like you who allow me to keep adding to this site fulltime. Thanks! It costs you nothing and is a huge help to me.I recommend them all personally. Something went wrong. View cart for details. The Canon EOS 630 Film Camera features a focus prediction function which automatically predicts the position of a fast moving object. The metal body of the Canon EOS 630 Film Camera helps to steady the shot. Unlike many Canon EOS series cameras, the Canon EOS 630 allows the user to work with the camera as per their preference by altering up to seven functions. An important feature is the Intelligent Program AE with Variable Program Shift. The photographer can create anything from shallowfocus zone portraits to blurredmotion shot with the Intelligent Program AE with Variable Program Shift. It has a bit faster motor drive than the 620 and 650. It fits the hand better than any newer camera Ive held. There are no menus, per se. Everything is accessed by pressing a button, then turning the jog dial. The more seldomused features are accessed by buttons under a cover at the bottom rear of the camera. It only has one focusing sensor, center and no IR illuminator, so do plan on great autofocus in low light with slow lenses. Do check the pricing of the lenses you want BEFORE you buy into the EOS system though Since the lenses are still usable on current digital EOS, they cost more than you think, in some cases. Good value for money, but can be unreliable. Its AF, which combines the best features from 620 and 650, was very fast for its time even today. This camera is a notch above the EOS 620 with faster AF speed. The price was the same for both colors.

I also have a Canon Rebel TI, it is small and easy but I do not like its plastic feel and durability. Therefore, I bought this camera as an alternative to that. I user them interchanging. I should say 630 is terrific. It is reliable, fast, and feature full for main photography needs. Plus, there is no exposure scale and metering in Manual Mode. But for its age etc, it is great bargain and a adventure. The greatest flaw of this camera is lights seals close to shutter decays and become greasy after years. This creates a sticky shutter. Therefore shutter blades needs to be cleaned and sometimes maintained. Be careful with the blades while cleaning because you can can crack them very easily. If you are not sure about yourself take it to a professional, it should not be a expensive job. Read full review by cwdix 03 Oct, 2007 Canon Cant go wrong. Actually this camera was part of a package auction, I was mainly interested in the flash that came with it. I had dusted off my old FTQL Bought in Vietnam in 1968 and needed a flash attachment. I really like the autofocus. Now all I have to do is watch the auctions for some lenses, although the one that came with it is quite adequate for most of what I photograph. Since having such a great experience with eBay, I have subsequently searched other brands and photo equipment. also my first review, sorry for the awkwardness Read full review by jargon777 24 Jun, 2012 A great camera, but the sticky shutter problem is a major letdown. The Canon EOS 630 is a great film SLR camera, the latest from the 600series film cameras. Its rugged and built well. However, it can be a little complicated to use especially without a manual and you wont be able to use some of the advanced features without a manual or reference. Canon built the shutter with a foam brake pad but the problem is these pads deteriorate with time into a goopy mess. This goo can coat the shutter and jam it.

It is manageable, but an annoying aspect of the camera; since these cameras are old, youll probably encounter this problem unless your shutter has been refurbished. It is manageable, but an annoying aspect of the camera; since these cameras are old, youll probably encounter this problem unless your shutter has been refurbished. 0 0 by jcl841 09 Mar, 2010 Canon EOS 630 Film Camera This older film camera produced great pictureslacks built in flash. With 400 film and a 50MM 1.8 it is great in low light. The Rebel X is a very lightweight, feature packed camera. I can choose a fast shutter speed to stop action or a slow speed to show movement, eg blurred streams and the camera sets the corresponding aperture for proper exposure. I can also choose aperture mode to set that, which determines depth of field to ei ther blur out the background when it might be distracting or to keep background details in focus, when its important or adds to my photo. All of the setting are VERY easy to use and figure out. The one thing to consider this model does NOT have a built in flash there are LOTS of Canon EOS models that DO offer this feature I use this camera mostly outdoors, and the light weight and compact size make it easy to carry in a backpack or waist bag while hiking around.

For indoor use, you will need to add a flash, but I found that pretty much any accessory flash is a lot nicer than the built in flash offered on most models. So, when I need the flash, I carry it, when I dont I save the weight of toting one around. All in all, this is an excellent camera, and with the proliferation of digital cameras, these nice, 35mm film cameras are a real bargain. For what its worth, I also have a digital, but the photos from this cameras are superior in most ways, and I dont have to mess with printing. Back to the camera if you want a VERY capable, versatile, lightweight camera which is super easy to use, the Canon EOS series are great. They scrapped the A series and the EOS was born starting with the 650. A more advanced version was added in the 620. The EOS 1 is totally based on the 630, the 630 just evolved into the EOS 1. Its not just a camera in the sense of mass marketing effort. The EOS 630 is a very important model for Canon and the evolving of Canon as a leader in craftsmanship of superior quality in the advanced and pro markets. The EOS 650 was a plain jane general use model, in 1987 and as a result the 630 was born. The historical significance of the successful 630 led to the EOS 1 a nd then the EOS DCS 3 venture in digital cameras, to the very first DSLR by Canon in the D30 in 2000. The 620 was the first advancement of the EOS line, but the 630 was the first serious advancement that led Canon to where they are now, it opened the door to put Canon on or above depends on your preference Nikon in the serious advanced and pro fields. The EOS 630 is not just another camera, it is the branching forward with a combined success in operation and function and successful marketing for Canon in the advanced field. It is a serious camera, sure when it was created certain things did not exist so it lacks things that the EOS 1 and other later models have.

The point is when it was designed it was designed for the serious advanced user and yet it allowed the slightly above average user to be a part as well. Like all used cameras, wear and tear, cosmetic condition, use, and functional condition are key to having one that will work properly for you today. Coupled with a superior quality Canon lens, like a L model version for instance a 630 will produce some vivid and spectacular slides for any user who wants to utilize the capabilities this model offers in an AF type SLR. By no means is a 630 a typical camera, outdated, or even runofthemill it is a serious model with historical significance to boot. I dont know enough about cameras to know exactly what I bought,so it is not exactly like my old one. The only thing that I dont like about this camera as opposed to the one stolen is that this camera does not have a built in flash like my old one. I have to buy a flash for this so I can use it indoors. Other than that, this is a perfect camera. 2 2 by herbalrain 16 Aug, 2007 Great Camera for the Price. I got my Canon Rebel about 13 years ago, the main thing I absolutely love about it.I also love the quality pics I have taken and experimented with different settings. I have taken night sky shots, multiple image, etc.all easy to do and turned out awesome. I bought this Canon EOS Rebel X Film Camera for my son to use for his Photography class. The camera qualifications that the students need are all in this package. Just what the instructor wanted. This camera came with everything it said on the description and then some. Very clean and well taken care of. I like the fact that it is a Canon and Canon has a great reputation. It will be easy to have serviced if we ever should need to have. This camera came with a very nice carrying bag also. The manual and papers are all with it. 3 0 Why is this review inappropriate.
