DEAR FRIENDS, Thank you for joining us for the 15th Power of the Purse! Though we are coming to you from Portland, Oregon, this year’s virtual event is being broadcast to celebrated Girls Inc. supporters all throughout the country! These last 15 years have been quite a journey for us both. We vividly recall our first meeting in 2005, to discuss the concept of pairing Portland “notables” with local purse designers to create one-of-a-kind handbags to be featured at an annual, one-of-a-kind event ‒ Power of the Purse! An event concept that would fully celebrate the breadth of Portland’s highly acclaimed design community while giving voice to the expansive chorus of Portland’s leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists – a community of champions building the foundation for the next generation of strong, smart and bold leaders. Now 15 years later, and millions upon millions of dollars raised to champion for the empowerment of girls and an equitable society, we have the honor of Co-Chairing this 15th event. It has been an absolute honor to watch this event concept grow into a powerful platform for empowering youth. We are so grateful to be part of this movement here in Portland. Although we are unable to join together in person for this sensational event – we are still united in spirit and in fundraising – allies within our community – with an open mind and a readiness to continue empowering Girls Inc. youth – our future leaders of tomorrow. Muralist Roster Updated July 2018 Introduction The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) established the Muralist Roster as an on-line resource that can be used by anyone seeking an artist for a mural project – community groups, business or property owners, schools, architecture firms, private developers or other public art programs. The artists on the roster were selected by RACC’s Public Art Murals Program Committee* and have demonstrated skills, experience and interest in designing and painting large scale paintings and/or murals. The intent of the roster is to provide users a range of artistic styles from which to select an artist that fits the needs of a particular project. All artists live and work in either Oregon or Washington and have previous experience working large scale. As you review this roster, read about each of the artists in their own words and view details of up to three past projects to get a feel for their work.
