Collection of Theories

Written and Illustrated By: Christopher J. Lechner – Grade 5.

Introduction

The Collection of Theories provides the reader with the author’s personal hypothesis on Teleportation, Parallel Universes, Magic, and Time. Along with the hypotheses you will also receive insights of the risks and the benefits of these assumptions. These proposals have not been scientifically tested. They are just educated guesses based of scientific facts.

The Teleportation Theory

The Teleportation theory revolves around how teleportation works. A teleporter is a machine that would separate the molecules of a person, an animal or an item to transport them to a different location. Once arrived to the new location the machine would put the molecules back into its original form.

A teleporter would need to be placed at each location where people would like to travel to. The teleporter would require two receivers: one to get into and another one to get out. Sort of like a departure and arrival on a subway.

For our current knowledge, even if this theory is correct, using a teleporter would not be able to regenerate memories. Memories are encoded electrical neurons. They are not made of molecules therefore they cannot be transferred through teleportation. Can you imagine if people would have no idea who they are, where they are and how they got there. Quite confusing it is already, isn’t it?

You may argue that you can just design the teleporter to transfer memories too. The problem with that argument is that it is not scientifically possible. Even if encoded electrical neurons were transferable to different locations, current science does not have the knowledge yet how to place these neurons back into the same order as they were before, as they would need to be to access our memory.

1

As of now even the pure procedure of retrieving our encoded electrical neurons would require an extremely difficult and precise surgery. Therefore, the past self would not be able to survive in the process of teleportation and a clone would be created. I would not recommend that. In the future it is possible that science will be further ahead and teleportation can become a possibility without any side effects. Travelling to other countries or even mail delivery could become much faster.

2 The Parallel Universes Theory

The Parallel Universes Theory resolves around the existence of parallel universes. 13.7 billion years ago, an event called the Big Bang turned the supposed infinite emptiness into the universe we live in today. According to scientific facts that we have gained over the centuries of researches, the universe is still expanding from that life changing event. Though we do not know much outside of the boundaries of our universe, it is safe to assume that there are other universes and that these universes are still actively growing.

It is possible that other universes are different yet expanding just like ours. It could be that these universes are inaccessible to each other and cannot detect one another. Imagine it, like another dimension. It is invisible and not sensible yet it still could be there.

The most possible theory is that we live in a and there are different parallel universes that are in constant movement and keep going around. If this possibility is indeed true, then there could be several parallel universes roaming around.

If universes would be able to communicate with each other, there would be the risk of spreading viruses or a potential unwanted galactic war. It would also carry the opportunity to exchange . We could learn new techniques, scientific facts, and even trade our materials between worlds.

4 The Magic Theory

The Magic Theory is an explanation of the word “magic”. To most people, magic is a force that is controllable with the use of wands, staffs, words and spells, or other items. That is what we imagine it to be, we indulge in the feeling of mystery and illusion but that is not what magic is. Magic is the, disconnect between the connection of understanding, and the logic behind something. What if I would travel back in time to the medieval ages and use a lighter in front of someone. They would say that I am doing magic. They would say that because they would not understand how the lighter works. If they did understand what a lighter is then they would be calling it a device. I would rather suggest to not being afraid of the unknown, but to be curious and discover.

5 The Time Theory

The Time Theory is challenging the idea of being able to travel from the present or past to the future and vice versa. For a long time humans have dreamt of time traveling. There have been many speculations how to achieve this dream, but no-one has been able to achieve it so far.

As to my knowledge, the reason it has not been achieved yet is because it is not possible. It is scientifically possible to go to the future called time dilation, but it is not to do with machine. Time dilation is basically a concept about the changes in the passage of time. For example, there’s spaceship that needs to travel to a planet that takes 11 years to get there. On Earth, we would feel it as 11 years but for the crew on the shuttle would only take 4.4 years. It is because time slows down for objects in . So when the crew would be back they would age 8.8 years (to the planet and back in time dilation).

Another way of time travelling is by going into different time zones. For example, if I travel from Curacao to Holland then I will be in a different time zone and a few hours ahead compare to Curacao. Most countries also have daylight saving times when they gain or lose an hour. It is not exactly time travelling but these are the only possible ways of time travelling currently.

6 The reason I do not think that you can get in a machine and go to the future or past is because of the future and the past. Just the action itself traveling to the past would be changing the past, which is impossible. Once you do something you cannot change your past actions. The future is the exact opposite.

The future is the outcome of our decisions and actions that we made or did in the past or currently doing in the present, but does not exist yet. Therefore, no place to go!

Personally, I do not think that would ever become possible. If so, it could create a tremendous chaos in our lives. Even if a single person would make a small change in the past could end up in catastrophe. We can consider the opposite of it as well, a small good dead could create a flourishing outcome. For instance, if back in time would not have started producing plastic. Our planet and our oceans would be healthy, clean and perhaps more environment friendly.
