Langdale Valley, Lake District 3 day Nordic Break Low & High Level Options 19, 20, 21 July 2021 T This iconic valley with mountains towering above you in every direction, gives way to the most beautiful routes around the valley floor as well as high up on the fells. We are taking those who wish to explore the higher fells up onto the tops of mountains surrounding this glorious valley to lead you around the whole skyline during the week. The famous Langdale Pikes, Bowfell, Pike of Blisco and maybe Crinkle Crags and Bowfell (weather permitting). The lower level routes could also include walking over Lingmoor Fell with views onto all the surrounding mountains. You will be able to swap between high and low level options each day. On day 1 we will all walk together and for lunch head to Chester’s By The River. The cost of this Walking Holiday will include: • 2 lunch boxes – Nicky Sproson specials – no rubbish, and far too healthy lunches! • 1 Lunch at Chester’s By The River • Dinner included • 3 days of guided walking around the routes, with the WALX Helvellyn Ullswater Mountain Team of experienced walk leaders and Sam Armstrong, with lots of knowledge of the surrounding fells, all of the team give guidance over the typical Lakeland terrain. Cost: £295 Our first day will be a good long stride out down to Skelwith Bridge and Lunch at Chester’s By The River as a group. Suggested Higher level Routes (interchangeable for day 2 or 3 weather dependent: Pike of Blisco & possibly Blea Tarn - IGH: 10km & 700m ascent OR 13km & 700m The Langdale Pikes & Pavey Ark - 12km 900m ascent Bowfell - Around 15km & 1100m ascent, or bad weather route Angle Tarn via Rossett Ghylll & back via Stake Pass Suggested Lower level Routes (interchangeable for day 2 or 3 weather dependent: Around Lingmoor Fell via Blea Tarn into Little Langdale - 14km & 466m ascent – Into Mickledon – 10km & 200m ascent Longmoor Fell or Elterwater Accommodation: We have been extremely lucky to be able to reserve the whole of The Old Dungeon Ghyll http://www.odg.co.uk/. This is a very popular hotel for obvious reasons due to its location and it is rare to be able to reserve all the rooms. The rooms are held from Sunday 18th and you can stay an extra night on the 21st. Once you have secured your room please inform Sam who will register you for the trip.
