Map Information From the 31st of May to early June 2016, exceptional flooding occured after several days of 0 0

0 0 heavy rain in France. The Loing and S eine rivers burst their bank s and 4,000 people were 0 0

5 5 evacuated from the town of Nemours. S ome areas reported the worst flooding seen in a 1 1

3 3 century. 5 5 The Emergency Management S ervice R isk & R ecovery activation ‘’EMS N-028 : Flood delineation and damage assessment, France’’ has been requested by the French authorities in order to map flooding, infer maximum flooding and flood w ater depths, and assess the damages of the floods occurred over the S eine R iver located upstream to P aris, and its tributary the Loing R iver, from Fontainebleau to Montargis.

4 The estimated thematic accuracy of the land use / land cover is 94%, based on internal validation procedures and visual interpretation of recogniz able items on very high resolution optical imagery. The estimated geometric accuracy of this product is 0.5 m, from native positional accuracy of the back ground satellite image. Maximum flood extent and water depth information are simulated products. Therefore, their quality depends on the accuracy of the input data. S ome errors may subsist due to the presence of outliers.
