For most people, driving is their most hazardous daily activity, and, seldom recognized, car crashes are the leading cause of violence in most communities. Teens are our most vulnerable drivers. We educate students, face-to-face to help them understand the responsibilities that go along with using a set of car keys. SurvivetheDrive®, is an independent, not-for-profit, service. It is an evidence-based, driver crash-preventive educational program focusing on new drivers’ ‘Automotive Violence Prevention’. -Behind the Wheel- Teen friendly, comprehensive and cost effective Defensive Driver Education. Survive the Drive has created a safety program based on information and experience gathered by their professional staff and Board of Directors, each offering decades of service, education and experience in driver training, transportation safety and auto racing instruction. The organization’s program is designed to educate novice drivers through the use of a multi-media presentation and a hands-on defensive driver training course. The hands-on defensive driver training course was developed to demonstrate crash avoidance maneuvers, skid capability, vehicle control, braking exercises and new car autonomous technologies. YOUR BUSINESS WILL BE IN THE COMMUNITY Donations from businesses, clubs, SPOTLIGHT organizations and individuals help Survive the Drive (a non-profit 501(c)3 organization) raise awareness of distracted driver injuries and fatalities in our communities. It's not an easy group to keep engaged but Bob did a great job! Brookwood Secure Center, Claverack, NY The “Survive the Drive” program was outstanding! I can’t express my appreciation enough. Bob Green is a skilled and knowledgeable speaker who was able to engage our often resistive students and provide them with information that had a powerful impact on their outlook towards driving. “Survive the Drive’ warns teens against distractions” Green’s rapid-fire presentation combines basic anatomy and personal anecdotes… Students may have learned something from Green. After the presentation… a student who got her driver’s license in December, said, "I won’t text while driving anymore." Amherst Regional High School, MA I would like to THANK YOU for all of your hard work and dedication to the safety of Massachusetts youth… the work you do is very inspiring. RHAM High School, CT Your dynamic, high energy talk had a positive effect on the students. They talked about it throughout the day. Pine Bush High School, NY I thought Bob did a great job, and we (students and staff) appreciated his enthusiasm and candor in dealing with a very difficult subject. Again thank you and Bob for providing this valuable service to our students. Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School District, NY He was great! He had a ton of energy, was wonderful with the students and I was very excited that he included information about texting while driving and drunk driving this year. Please send him my thanks and thank you for helping to bring this program to our school again. Dear SCCA Media Partners, Welcome to what is truly a new era of the Sports Car Club of America, as the SCCA National Champi- onship Runoffs heads west for the first time in 46 years to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This event, made possible with the help of our friends and partners at Mazda and the Sports Car Rac- ing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), was met with questions at its announcement that have been answered in a big way, with more than 530 drivers on the entry list and a rejunvenaton of the west coast program all season long. While we haven’t been west of the Rockies since River- side International Raceway in 1968, it’s hard to believe it will be that long before we return again. The question on everyone’s mind, even more than usual, is who is going to win? Are there hidden gems on the west coast who may be making their first Runoffs appearance that will make a name for themselves on the national stage, or will the traditional contenders learn a new track quickly enough to hold their titles? My guess is that we’ll see some of each.

(Feb. 11, 2020) – Peter O. Argetsinger, a member of the International Motor Racing Research Center’s Governing Council and an international racing champion and respected driving coach, is being remembered across the industry for his talents and joy in the sport. Argetsinger died Thursday, Feb. 6, at his home in Watkins Glen after a fight against cancer. He was 69. As the son of Jean and Cameron Argetsinger, who were the founders and organizers of the first races in Watkins Glen, motorsport was an important part of his life from early on. Maintaining a home in Watkins Glen, as well as Sebring, Fla., Argetsinger was involved with the IMRRC since it opened. He joined the Governing Council in 2018. "Peter was an incredible racer and beloved racing instructor, but most importantly he was a good friend,” John Saunders, senior advisor at NASCAR and chairman of the IMRRC Governing Council, said. “The world of motorsports is richer for his dedication to developing young talent and growing the sport’s future. Pete will always be considered family to the International Motor Racing Research Center, an organization to which he devoted much wisdom and guidance.” Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup, also a member of the IMRRC’s Governing Council, noted Argetsinger’s dedication to the sport and Watkins Glen. “Peter was an important part in carrying on the legacy and tradition that his father, Cameron, and family started here in Watkins Glen,” Printup said.
