Play these three color stripes anywhere on the piano and the "pattern" you are playing is a major chord. The ROOTROOT gives the chord its 1 name. This minor chord "pattern" is the same as the major 1 chord "pattern" except for the middle note. The ROOTROOT gives the chord its name. If you put the rst ROOT stripe (the one on the left) on "C" and you move 1 between the top pattern and the bottom pattern, you will be playing "C" major to "F” major. Notice how your nger stays on the color stripe with the picture of an anchor for both chords. This 1 makes changing chords easier. The ROOTROOT gives each chord its name. You play it one color stripe at a time. This scale has a happy sound. You can use this scale to make up little patterns or melodies. Musi- 1 cians call this "soloing" or "improvising." The anchor shows which note stays the same when changing between chords; when switching from 1 to 4 the 1 bottom note stays the same, but when switching from 1 to 5 the top note stays the same.
