CAN WE CONTINUE THIS WINNING RUN?

Welcome back to Maesdu Park once again as we prepare for our third home game in a row, last week we reached the third round of the JD after comfortable seeing off Llanfair United 4-1 in the end despite going into the half-time break a goal down. A brace from Aron Jones who took full ad- vantage of the trust the manager put is in good stead in the second half, and goals from Danny Hughes and Dan Stephens confirmed the win. A shout must go out to Aaron Pomeyie as well, who’s three assists really turned the game around.

We now return to the JD Cymru North and welcome Penrhyncoch who have done well so far this sea- son. It will be no easy feat but a win for us would put us just one point behind them in the table, and really allow us to move up the league and start catching up with the likes of , Flint and Colwyn Bay.

An away trip to Guilsfield follows this game, and having lost there in the Nathaniel MG Cup earlier on in the season, we know just how difficult that game can be so a win against Penrhyncoch will allow us to continue our good run going into that game

Enjoy the game,

Geraint Roberts, Head of Media

Proud Supporters of Llandudno FC LLANDUDNO FC A BRIEF HISTORY OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

Football in Llandudno dates back to 1878 when a club, probably known as Gloddaeth Rovers was in existence for around a decade. The club was formed for the purpose of providing activity for cricketers during their close season. SA full international Wales v Ireland was played on the “council field” in 1988.

Llandudno were founder members of the Welsh National League (North) in 1921 and were champions in 1923 and League Cup winners in 1930. The club won the N.W.C.F.A in 1926 and the Amateur Cup in 1929. Controversy struck the club in 1931 when the F.A.W instructed them to play East Wales, which Llandudno refused and were suspended.

Llandudno were also founder members of the Welsh League (North) in 1935 and remained in the league until war broke out in 1939 and then re-joined in 1945 up until 1974. Llandudno were league champions in 1936 and repeated the feat the following season, in addition the club regained the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1948 and 1962, the Alves Cup in 1951 and the Cookson Cup in 1965.

The club moved to its current home at Maesdu Park in 1991 after the “council field” was used for the construction of the ASDA store in the late 1970’s, now the new Parc MBi Maesdu. The current ground was officially opened in 1991 and floodlights were added in 1994. The following season saw the erection of a clubhouse and two small stands which provides covered seating for 130 spectators.

The club has then went under major transitions, with the addition of a new press box, built by local lad Cyril “Ciz” Williams who tragically died while construction was ongoing, and it is surely a testament that such a great number of friends were determined to finish his work and the building stands as a fitting memorial to this wonderful man. In the 2004/05 season the current dressing rooms were built, and the grandstands with disabled access. In the 2014/15 season major developments continued with the addition of a brand new entrance foyer, fitted with an educational suite, and a state of the art 3G pitch alongside the introduction of a thriving community arm, and for the first time in the clubs history Llandudno Football Club earned promotion into the Welsh .

The club then reached an agreement with sportswear giants Adidas to be their official kitwear supplier until at least 2017, along with major kit sponsors from W.R. Davies Renault and the UPVC Outlet. The good news didn’t stop there as more redevelopments took place around the ground with the introduc- tion of a brand new TV gantry and 75 seater stand.

At the end of the 2015/16 season, and in Llandudno’s debut year in the top tier of Welsh football, we gained automatic promotion to the Europa League after a third placed finish. Llandudno had earned themselves a tie against two time European Cup Winners IFK Goteborg in the first qualifying round, on- ly to be outmuscled 7-1 on aggregate, with Danny Hughes the name in history scoring for his hometown club. An experience the club and the town were extremely proud of, and one that will never be forgotten as we look to replicate it year upon year.

All this wouldn’t be possible without the support and the dedication from our tirelessly working volun- teers, and so here you find us as one club, one community. LLFC PLAYER SPONSORSHIPS 2019/20

Good afternoon and welcome once again, for the third time in a row, to this Cymru Leagues North Game against Penrhyncoch.

We come into this game in reasonably good form having won the last three games, with two of those being in the Welsh Cup. I am very pleased to have progressed in this prestigious competition and our reward has been a draw in the next round away to Afan Lido. The aim now is to convert this successful cup run into a run in the league to move us up the table. We have seen with other clubs that a good run can soon see you fly up the league and that’s what we want to achieve.

I’d like to welcome Gari Lewis and his Penrhyncoch side this afternoon. Last sea- son, Penrhyncoch preformed extremely well to avoid relegation on the last game of the season, and have now taken that form into this season having a very bright start to the campaign. They have a very strong group and a great team spirit so we will needs to ensure our preparation for this one is on point.

In terms of the squad, it was pleasing to see Jacob Farleigh get game time last week and he’s looking good again for this weekend. We also welcome Shaun Pear- son and Lee Thomas back into the squad. Tom Williams, who deputised last week- end did superbly well and shows so much promise that is within the academy sys- tem.

I hope you all have a great afternoon of football.

Matthew Jones, 1st Team Manager LLANDUDNO FC MATCH REPORT OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME LLANDUDNO vs LLANFAIR UNITED JD WELSH CUP ROUND TWO

Maesdu Park, Llandudno

RESULT: Llandudno 4-1 Llanfair United

MATCH REPORT: Llandudno into Welsh Cup third round after defeating Llanfair United

Manager Matty Jones was forced to make two changes after Lee Thomas and Shaun Pearson were sus- pended after seeing red against Holywell Town.

This allowed 16 year old academy goalkeeper Tom Williams a chance in the first team, and Aaron Pomey- ie replaced Lee Thomas.

Llandudno had the better of the first-half overall, with Danny Hughes having a good chance on the edge of the area, but his shot was just wide.

On the 12th minute, the academy goalkeeper was sprung into making his first save, and what looked like a certain goal was denied well by the 16 year old.

Lewis Sirrell also went close to getting the opener but it was Llanfair United who went ahead in the 34th minute after the referee awarded them a penalty.

Paul Griffiths stepped up and dispatched his penalty just beyond Williams, and gave Llanfair the lead against the run of play.

Aron Jones almost equalised soon after when his powerful shot beat the keeper, but also went just past the post.

The second half carried on with Llandudno having the chances, Danny Hughes agonisingly hit the crossbar soon after the restart.

But just a minute later, Aron Jones got the equaliser when he tapped the ball into the net, and things got even better for him and Llandudno five minutes after when he got his and our second, giving us the lead.

Danny Hughes who has been threatening all day, took advantage from a rebound to slot the ball home to put Llandudno pretty much out of sight and into the third round.

Llandudno were completely in control and were looking for a fourth, and it did eventually come on the 90th minute when Dan Stephens was there to score.

The result puts Llandudno in the hat for the next round and a potential side awaits them. LLANDUDNO FC TODAY’S OPPONENTS OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME FORM : W 1-0 vs Town (JD Welsh Cup) L 3-1 vs Flint Town United (JD Cymru North) D 0-0 vs (JD Cymru North

LAST SEASON: 13th in Lost in first round in JD Welsh Cup

PENRHYNCOCH: BRIEF HISTORY . The club was formed as recently as 1965 following a meeting in the old church school. Initially Penrhyncoch played in the and District League, and between 1965 and 1982 the championship was won five times and runners up six times. The club aquired a lease from Ceredigion County Council for Cae Baker in 1975, the changing rooms were built in 1980. The clubhouse was built by volunteers and officially opened by the then Welsh team manager Mike in July 1981. In 1982 the club became founder members of the Central Wales League Division 2, where they won the Championship and were promoted the the first division. In 1990 saw the formation of the Cymru Alliance with Penrhyncoch one of the founder members, as the new pyramid system took shape. It was a disappointing first season as the standard of foot- ball was higher than expected. To meet this new criteria a new stand was built to seat 60 specta- tors and barriers erected around the pitch. It was during this period that the club established it- self as one of the leading clubs in the Cymru Alliance and finished a creditable 6th in 1998. It was during this season that the floodlights were erected, and the other ground improvements were made with the help of the grants and local volunteers. In the same year it was with great sadness that the club decided to withdraw from the Cymru Al- liance as the increasing cost of travelling proved to much and the club rejoined the Spar Mid Wales League. This resulted in a successful period as they won 2 lague championships in a row before rejoining the Cymru Alliance. The decision in 2004 was based on a joint venture with Aber- ystwyth FC as the club could use players from the neighbouring club. In 2004/05 Penrhyncoch took their place back in the Cymru Alliance and in the first season had mixed fortunes, finishing 14th in the league but reached the final of the League Cup before losing to Bala Town. Penrhyncoch are now an established club in the Cymru Alliance and look forward to hope- fuly retaining their status for the forthcoming seasons. CONTACT US

The home side will be hoping to build on recent form after winning their last three games in all competi- tions.

Penrhyncoch are also coming into this game in some confidence after beating former Cymru Premier side Llanelli Town last weekend in the cup second round.

Manager Matthew Jones said that despite his side progressing last weekend, he was unhappy with the first half performance.

“I thought we were very sluggish in the first half, and really struggled to get going.” Said Matty

“Second half though we showed what we are about which was pleasing to see, and in the end we got what we deserved.”

On tomorrow’s opponents, the manager is fully aware of the difficult task Penrhyncoch will give us.

“It will really be a tough game, Penrhyncoch narrowly avoided relegation last season, but have started this season well. They will look to cause us problems.”

Aron Jones scored a brace for Llandudno last weekend and the manager has said he’s really pleased with his player.

“I’m really pleased for Aron, he’s worked really hard over the past three months to get back in the side and took his chance superbly well.”

“It’s a message to the rest of the lads that the hard work does pay off.” Said Matty.

In terms of squad updates, Llandudno will be without Aaron Pomeyie this weekend, who got three assists against Llanfair United last weekend, due to injury,

Shaun Pearson and Lee Thomas return to the squad following their suspension last weekend.

LLANDUDNO FC CHAIRMAN’S COLUMN OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

Our Team...Our Town

Here we go again… Back to League action this weekend, and we extend a warm welcome to Penrhyncoch FC.

Last weekend's game proved to be a special occasion for young Aron Jones, who bagged a brace of goals, and won the Man of the Match award.

Great to see some of our younger players making it on to the score sheet....and it was a valuable win for the club, that sees us through to the 3rd round of the Welsh FA Cup, with an away tie to play, at Afan Lido, down way.

Also, our under 19 keeper, Tom made some really impressive saves, while he deputised for suspended Shaun Pearson. Great job.

Good luck to our lads this weekend...Let's hope we can pick up where we left off, and get another three points on the board.

Thanks for your continued support...

ACADEMY: Development Squad Defeated At Home

Airbus UK Broughton were the visitors to Maesdu Park, fresh off the back of an impressive win over Wrexham AFC in the FAW Youth Cup - and they continued their fine run of form here.

Airbus were by far the better of the two teams and were clinical in attack, putting away 9 goals including 2 pen- alties, one of which was saved by Keeper Tom Williams but was adjudged to of come off his line; the retake was also saved by the young keeper but the rebound was put away.

A hugely disappoiting day for Llandudno as they look to bounce back this coming weekend against Bala Town.

We spoke to James Parry, Development Squad Manager, straight after the game, "Disappointed. Frustrated. We just didn't turn up today and against a team of Airbus' quality you will be punished.

"Look, we're a young team with huge potential but we have to start fulfilling that. At the end of the day as the manager I am accountable for that result but I expected a reaction from my players and I didn't get that today; it makes this weekend against Bala Town all the more significant."

When pressed on any potential changes Parry responded; "I don't think we need to make wholesale chang- es; maybe we were a bit naive with our shape today and what we planned to do but we identifed the issues and we know what we need to correct which is important. I would be more worried if we didn't know."
