Welcome back to Maesdu Park once again as we prepare for our third home game in a row, last week we reached the third round of the JD Welsh Cup after comfortable seeing off Llanfair United 4-1 in the end despite going into the half-time break a goal down. A brace from Aron Jones who took full ad- vantage of the trust the manager put is in good stead in the second half, and goals from Danny Hughes and Dan Stephens confirmed the win. A shout must go out to Aaron Pomeyie as well, who’s three assists really turned the game around. We now return to the JD Cymru North and welcome Penrhyncoch who have done well so far this sea- son. It will be no easy feat but a win for us would put us just one point behind them in the table, and really allow us to move up the league and start catching up with the likes of Rhyl, Flint and Colwyn Bay. An away trip to Guilsfield follows this game, and having lost there in the Nathaniel MG Cup earlier on in the season, we know just how difficult that game can be so a win against Penrhyncoch will allow us to continue our good run going into that game Enjoy the game, Geraint Roberts, Head of Media IT’S ALL ABOUT WINNING! The club was formed for the purpose of providing activity for cricketers during their close season. SA full international Wales v Ireland was played on the “council field” in 1988. Llandudno were founder members of the Welsh National League (North) in 1921 and were champions in 1923 and League Cup winners in 1930. The club won the N.W.C.F.A in 1926 and the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1929. Controversy struck the club in 1931 when the F.A.W instructed them to play East Wales, which Llandudno refused and were suspended. Llandudno were also founder members of the Welsh League (North) in 1935 and remained in the league until war broke out in 1939 and then re-joined in 1945 up until 1974. Llandudno were league champions in 1936 and repeated the feat the following season, in addition the club regained the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1948 and 1962, the Alves Cup in 1951 and the Cookson Cup in 1965. The club moved to its current home at Maesdu Park in 1991 after the “council field” was used for the construction of the ASDA store in the late 1970’s, now the new Parc MBi Maesdu. The current ground was officially opened in 1991 and floodlights were added in 1994. The following season saw the erection of a clubhouse and two small stands which provides covered seating for 130 spectators. The club has then went under major transitions, with the addition of a new press box, built by local lad Cyril “Ciz” Williams who tragically died while construction was ongoing, and it is surely a testament that such a great number of friends were determined to finish his work and the building stands as a fitting memorial to this wonderful man. In the 2004/05 season the current dressing rooms were built, and the grandstands with disabled access. In the 2014/15 season major developments continued with the addition of a brand new entrance foyer, fitted with an educational suite, and a state of the art 3G pitch alongside the introduction of a thriving community arm, and for the first time in the clubs history Llandudno Football Club earned promotion into the Welsh Premier League. The club then reached an agreement with sportswear giants Adidas to be their official kitwear supplier until at least 2017, along with major kit sponsors from W.R. Davies Renault and the UPVC Outlet. The good news didn’t stop there as more redevelopments took place around the ground with the introduc- tion of a brand new TV gantry and 75 seater stand. At the end of the 2015/16 season, and in Llandudno’s debut year in the top tier of Welsh football, we gained automatic promotion to the Europa League after a third placed finish. Llandudno had earned themselves a tie against two time European Cup Winners IFK Goteborg in the first qualifying round, on- ly to be outmuscled 7-1 on aggregate, with Danny Hughes the name in history scoring for his hometown club. An experience the club and the town were extremely proud of, and one that will never be forgotten as we look to replicate it year upon year. All this wouldn’t be possible without the support and the dedication from our tirelessly working volun- teers, and so here you find us as one club, one community. LLANDUDNO FC MANAGER’S MESSAGE OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome once again, for the third time in a row, to this Cymru Leagues North Game against Penrhyncoch. We come into this game in reasonably good form having won the last three games, with two of those being in the Welsh Cup. I am very pleased to have progressed in this prestigious competition and our reward has been a draw in the next round away to Afan Lido. The aim now is to convert this successful cup run into a run in the league to move us up the table. We have seen with other clubs that a good run can soon see you fly up the league and that’s what we want to achieve. I’d like to welcome Gari Lewis and his Penrhyncoch side this afternoon. Last sea- son, Penrhyncoch preformed extremely well to avoid relegation on the last game of the season, and have now taken that form into this season having a very bright start to the campaign. They have a very strong group and a great team spirit so we will needs to ensure our preparation for this one is on point. In terms of the squad, it was pleasing to see Jacob Farleigh get game time last week and he’s looking good again for this weekend. We also welcome Shaun Pear- son and Lee Thomas back into the squad. Tom Williams, who deputised last week- end did superbly well and shows so much promise that is within the academy sys- tem. I hope you all have a great afternoon of football. Matthew Jones, 1st Team Manager LLANDUDNO FC MATCH REPORT OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME LLANDUDNO vs LLANFAIR UNITED JD WELSH CUP ROUND TWO Maesdu Park, Llandudno RESULT: Llandudno 4-1 Llanfair United MATCH REPORT: Llandudno into Welsh Cup third round after defeating Llanfair United Manager Matty Jones was forced to make two changes after Lee Thomas and Shaun Pearson were sus- pended after seeing red against Holywell Town. This allowed 16 year old academy goalkeeper Tom Williams a chance in the first team, and Aaron Pomey- ie replaced Lee Thomas. Llandudno had the better of the first-half overall, with Danny Hughes having a good chance on the edge of the area, but his shot was just wide. On the 12th minute, the academy goalkeeper was sprung into making his first save, and what looked like a certain goal was denied well by the 16 year old. Lewis Sirrell also went close to getting the opener but it was Llanfair United who went ahead in the 34th minute after the referee awarded them a penalty. Paul Griffiths stepped up and dispatched his penalty just beyond Williams, and gave Llanfair the lead against the run of play. Aron Jones almost equalised soon after when his powerful shot beat the keeper, but also went just past the post. The second half carried on with Llandudno having the chances, Danny Hughes agonisingly hit the crossbar soon after the restart. But just a minute later, Aron Jones got the equaliser when he tapped the ball into the net, and things got even better for him and Llandudno five minutes after when he got his and our second, giving us the lead.
