Mr. Schumacher belonged to many organizations throughout the state and was a dedicated member in all those he belonged to. He was not only an organizer he was also a stout supporter.

His love for mining went back a long way, he his wife Jan enjoyed working his opal mine in Nevada. He was one of those folks that touched many lives in a way that still shines.

Christmas Party: The Christmas Party went off as planned and we filled the Fife Community Center Hall.

The MOU (memo of understanding) allows us access to three 20 acre claims upstream of our Quien Sabe #1 claim on the Naches River. Signs for these claims are in the process of being put together and should be ready to install next spring when we can get over Chinook Pass to get them put up. The new claims maps will be emailed sometime between now and the first of the year.

December – 2018 12/4 Board Meeting Christmas Party and Potluck (Fife Community Center): This club event is our last blow out before the end of the year. There’ll be door prizes, 12/8 silent auction, and all kinds of other activities. The potluck is to die for (don’t wear a belt and bring an extra‐large plate). Rock Hounding trip to Salmon Creek for carnelian agates and Coprolite (dino poo). This 4/27 trip is led by Jim Curtiss. You’ll need a bucket, shovel, small rake, and a lunch.

May – 2019 Saddle Mountain Rock Hounding trip for Petrified Wood. This is a great trip and is led by 5/4 Jim Curtiss. First Creek Rock Hounding trip for agates and Ellensburg Blue. This trip is led by Jim 5/5 Curtiss and is a good dry run for future outings. Fun trip to Blewett for mining and rock hounding. First Creek for agate nodules and 5/4 – 5/5 another location for Ellensburg Blue. This trip is led by Jim Curtiss 5/7 Board Meeting Outing with Gold Trailer to Sportsman’s Warehouse in Puyallup, WA (9:00 AM to 5:00 5/11 PM) 5/11 – 5/12 Blewett Pass claims outing for mining 5/18 – 5/19 Cape Disappointment Beach Mining 5/20 General Meeting Blewett Claims Cleanup. This is an annual event and our first planned club trip up to our Blewett claims. Claims cleanup will start at 9AM and there’ll be a potluck dinner on 5/25 – 5/27 Saturday night (6PM at Scotty creek campground). We’re usually done with cleanup by noon and spend the rest of the time playing in the dirt! Puyallup Gem and Mineral Show at Swiss Park in Bonney Lake, WA. This is a two‐day 5/31 – 6/2 event (Sat‐Sun) with the gold trailer and membership drive. Just a fun and relaxed outing.
