15 3.1 Initiatives of the IQAC in Sensitizing/Promoting Research Climate in the institution

 Teachers were encouraged to apply for major and minor projects; and to attend seminars, workshops, conference, etc, and to publish their research findings in reputed national and international journals.  Teachers of PG courses guided the PG students to carry out mini projects pertaining to their M.Sc., dissertation (Team work and Project work). Many of them were well appreciated by the external evaluators. The results of many of them have been presented by the students in National conferences.  Department of Electronics: On the eve of centenary celebration, the department organized two day electronic exhibition namely “ELECTRO TARANG” on 17.02.2017 and 18.02.2017.  Students of our department actively participated in the Exhibition while faculty members and other college students watched the exhibition. Everybody were eager to know how electronics used in our daily life like mobile detector, smoke detector ,traffic light, laser counter and water level indicator many more by electronics students.  As a part of centenary celebrations, the Department of Microbiology (UG) had organised a one day model exhibition –Microfocus-2017 on 25th February 2017. The students of all the three years displayed more than 20 models in various themes including  Genesis of Microscopy, Microbial diversity, Forms of DNA, Microbial Fuel cell, Biogas production, Water treatment plant, Microbiology in sanitation, Microbiology in Forensics andMedical Microbiology. More than 100 students of the Department had actively involved in the event. A food stall serving Microbiology based food items was also installed on popular demand. The efforts of the students and the teachers who guided them were highly appreciated by all. The exhibition was further extended to one more day on request. The best models were later sent for intercollegiate model competition organised by Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishat and interdepartmental model competition organised by Science forum of our college.  Since the 07 post graduate courses are being run by the college, effort is made to accord research centre status to the college so that our teachers can guide students in their doctoral work.
