MY18 Holden Commodore February 2018
PRODUCT INFORMATION
OVERVIEW
The 2018 Commodore represents the fifth generation of one of Australia’s most popular vehicles. It is the evolution of an icon, offering new state-of-the-art technology, refined and exhilarating performance, and the same practicality that Commodores have been renowned for over the past 40 years.
Built in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the 2018 Commodore is a globally developed vehicle – as is the case for most GM developed products. Holden product planners and engineers have been deeply engrained in the Commodore program from the beginning, ensuring it looks, feels and performs as a next-generation Commodore should do. In fact, the 3.6-litre V6 AWD was only added to the program following Holden input.
Holden engineers have engaged with their European counterparts, attending overseas buy-off rides in addition to undergoing local vehicle testing at Holden’s Lang Lang-based proving ground. Commodore features unique ANZ steering tune, unique ANZ suspension hardware and damper tune in addition to locally tuned stability controls. Holden has also engaged the wider Australian team, utilising a fleet of over 30 vehicles to perform everyday testing over the past six months as part of a program known internally as Captured Test Fleet. The result of this work is that Aussies can be confident the new 2018 Commodore will perform exceptionally well in Australian conditions – unsealed roads, tram tracks and dodgy radio reception is all accounted for.
The 2018 Commodore also boasts a long list of firsts for Commodore, including; - 360-degree camera - Adaptive LED Matrix headlights - 9-speed auto transmission (2.0L petrol and V6) - 2.0-litre diesel engine – first diesel engine in Commodore - Adaptive AWD system – first time available in all bodystyles – new generation - Adaptive Cruise Control - AEB - Handsfree power tailgate - Ventilated and heated front massage seat - Heated rear seats - Wireless phone charging - Panoramic sunroof
The new 2018 Commodore (liftback), Sportwagon (wagon) and Tourer (high-ride wagon) is on sale at Holden dealers nationwide from late February 2018.

Active Safety Features - explained
Forward Collision Alert (FCA) with Head-Up Warning and AEB This advanced and active safety system employs the Holden Eye forward facing camera to help drivers avoid front-end collisions.
The system looks for vehicles ahead and alerts drivers via audible and visual warnings in the windscreen and instrument display if they are approaching another vehicle too rapidly and a collision appears to be imminent.
Without driver input, Commodore’s Autonomous Emergency Braking system engages to mitigate potential collisions.
Lane Keep Assist (and Lane Departure Warning) The Holden Eye forward facing camera mounted on the windscreen ahead of the rear-view mirror helps to avoid incidents by providing lane departure warnings and, when necessary, gently nudges Equinox back into the lane automatically
This practical active safety feature helps to reduce the risk of collision that arise when drivers stray over lane markings unintentionally, or depart a lane without signalling first.
The Lane Departure System is activated by a control on the steering wheel. It may be deactivated by the driver, according to preference and circumstance.
ADAPTIVE ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE
Standard on all 3.6-litre V6 models, Commodore’s adaptive AWD system provides Twinster state-of-the- art technology for more grip, especially in slippery conditions, as well as better compensation of oversteer and understeer.
Commodore’s adaptive AWD system utilises Twinster’s twin clutch concept which uses one clutch to control torque to the right rear wheel independent of the clutch controlling torque to the left rear wheel – each with an individual clutch capacity of 1500Nm. The system monitors inputs from vehicle sensors up to 100 times per second.
Commodore’s adaptive AWD system uses pre-emptive torque vectoring to ensure the right amount of torque is delivered to each wheel – distributed longitudinally (between front and rear axles) and laterally (between rear wheels). Torque split is between 100:0 and 50:50 Front: Rear.
TECHNOLOGY HIGHLIGHTS
The 2018 Commodore boasts a range of high-tech, user-friendly features usually reserved for high-end vehicles. Commodore’s technology aids are designed to improve driving experience and safety while integrating seamlessly into customers’ lives.
360-degree camera – Commodore’s 360-dgree camera lets drivers see from every angle reducing the risk of incurring any wheel damage in tight parking situations or during general vehicle manoeuvring. The 360 vision is delivered via four separate cameras building a composite picture of the landscape in which the vehicle sits - rear view camera, a front camera and a camera under each wing mirror.
Adaptive LED Matrix Headlights – LED Matrix Headlights were first introduced on the 2017 Holden Astra hatch and received rave reviews. Commodore offers the next-generation LED Matrix headlights, upping the LED lights count from eight on each headlight (16 in total) to 16 on each headlight (32 in total). The result, aside from an entertaining light show on start-up, is that Commodore’s LED Matrix headlights will track around road corners, dip down in sections to avoid dazzling oncoming vehicles/people and effectively turn night into day.
Handsfree Power Tailgate – joining Astra Sportwagon and Equinox, Commodore Sportwagon and Tourer offers handsfree power tailgate which allows drivers to open the tailgate of their vehicle with a simple kick motion (not swipe). Key the remote key in a pocket, drivers are able to make a kick gesture towards the Holden logo light on the floor, before stepping back and waiting for the door to open.
Advanced Park Assist – APA takes the stress out of parking by using Commodore’s radar to search for suitably sized car park spaces before alerting the driver and taking over the steering controls (driver controls vehicle movement). To operate, driers must press the APA button (P with two squares) once for parallel to the left or hold to switch to perpendicular. Right side parallel parks can be made by indicating right. With the button pressed, Commodore will begin scanning for a space. When it finds one it will give an audio alert before providing instructions to the driver via the cluster.
CONNECTIVITY AND INFOTAINMENT

DESIGN

In sports trim guises, Commodore displays the aggressive stance and fascia the vehicle has become known for in recent years while the luxury side of the range oozes sophistication with flowing lines a softer face.
Proportionally, 2018 Commodore is slightly smaller than the VF Commodore it replaces but larger than Commodores before it. Available in liftback, wagon and high-ride wagon bodystyles, Commodore has a design for every lifestyle.
