The Black Bears opened #22 - Blanca Millan (Mill-lawn) the season at Memorial Gym where they hosted the Tip-Off Tournament, #32 - Kira Barra (Kie-ra Bar-rah) earning a 76-51 win over Harvard on day two of the competition. #51 - Fanny Wadling (Fawn-knee Wod-ling) A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS: Amy Vachon (Vash-on) The Black Bears opened the first weekend of action by going 1-1 at Memorial Gym in the Tip-Off Tournament. Maine opened the season with a 42-34 loss to Tulane before bouncing back to defeat Harvard, 76-51, on Saturday America East Preseason Poll afternoon. The games marked the first time Maine had played in ‘The Pit’ Team (first place votes) Total points since 2013 (vs. New Hampshire). After a cold shooting performance on Friday evening (26.4%), the Black Bears went 28-for-63 (44.4%) against 1. New Hampshire (8) 64 Harvard.
