Dec 19, Richard rated it really liked it Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 comix-graphix-valiant. The miniseries The Valiant took the Bloodshot character down a whole new path; he not only fell in love, but regained a little bit of his humanity Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 the Geomancer separated him from the nanites. Duane Swierczynski and Christos Gage did a great job with the first Bloodshot seriescrafting an exciting and clever action thriller out of a silly-looking product of 's comics. But here comes Jeff Lemire doing what he does best and takes the character to a whole new level. What happens when Blo The miniseries The Valiant took the Bloodshot character down a whole new path; he not only fell in love, but regained a little bit of his humanity after the Geomancer separated him from the nanites. What happens when Bloodshot stops being Bloodshot? Lemire takes an even more psychological and emotional approach to the character, focusing not on him simply shooting up a room full Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 bad guys or looking badass on every splash page, but instead on the Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 that Ray feels now that he's free of the nanites, and the emotional toll that his extremely violent past has taken on him. Can he ever live a normal life? And after being separated from him, where did the nanites go? The first volume really stands out to me because of Mico Suayan's amazingly rendered art, which happens to be the best I've seen in a Valiant book. Still entertaining, this Bloodshot series goes to some exciting places, and Lemire even writes a Valiant version of Old Man Logan in the last story arc, a post-apocalyptic story that ends up being surprisingly linked to the rest of the main tale. I can't wait to see where Lemire takes this next. And I love this awesome cover. Feb 05, Koen rated it really liked it. Oeh yes, I'm a fan of Bloodshot! Part 1 was amazing. Great work from Lemire again. And the artwork: stunning! Brings the whole to another level. Jan 30, Relstuart rated it liked it. I am not going to get into the . I am not going to Valiant universe. I did not like Bloodsquirt, a zany mental sidekick tick. I'd probably pick up a second volume. The Valiant world of comics has become my favourite set of graphic novels. My first encounter was through Archer and Armstrong. And his story is excellent. Like many readers I have navigated Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 way through this world sampling the many fantastic characters and their battles, and their gifts. It has been an entertaining experience and I will stick with the Valiant Universe for the long haul because the Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 Brilliant!! It has been an entertaining experience and I will stick with the Valiant Universe for the long haul because the characters are just so rich and diverse. And Bloodshot is one character that captures this richness. A former killing machine for Project Rising Spirit in Bloodshot Reborn he now has to negotiate life as an ordinary man. He is free from the Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 that once coursed through his blood but he isn't free from the past. He struggles to come to terms with all the deaths he caused and all the lives he has lived. But it is not yet over! I dont want to say too much about the twists and turns in this deluxe volume. The art is great. The stories are Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 with a frisson of darkness and the roller coaster is never ending. The past breaks through into the future and future has echoes from the past. I think Bloodshot has become one of my favourite characters and I need more, much more! I have to say, I wasn't familiar with this book at all, but it looked interesting. I had no expectations going in, but if I did, they would have been exceeded. I really enjoyed Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 entire story arc. The artwork was amazing. The characters where complex and interesting. The plot itself was great. Just when you thought you knew what was coming next, there was nice little twist. I enjoyed the Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 where I had to figure out which characters were real, and which were just in Ray's head. I was throw I have to say, I wasn't familiar with this book at all, but it looked interesting. I was thrown a little at the end, but WOW what an Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 I would recommend this series to anyone, and especially this edition. A good idea for redirecting the focus of the series. Just being a guy who can't be killed who goes around killing bad guys gets old real fast. I like they've added some mystery to the series. However I hope they dump the hallucinations. I feel like that's a very lazy way to Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 and is just page filler. Dec 26, Terence rated it it was ok Shelves: freebies. Bloodshot was under mind control and he was the perfect killer. The nanites in his blood made him unkillable. He was healed of those nanites and now he's a shell of his former self. Bloodshot seems to be a cross between Universal Soldier and Mr. In Universal Soldier murdered soldiers were reanimated after being killed and placed under mind control. The X-Men villain Mr. Sinister looks exactly like Bloodshot and could also heal from seemingly every wound. I'm not impressed with Bloodshot Bloodshot was under mind control and he was the perfect killer. I'm not impressed with Bloodshot as he seems like a trope made murderer. View 1 comment. Jun 17, Cheese rated it it was ok. Being written by Lemire I expected this to be deep and thrilling, It was neither. Bloodshot has lost his powers because he had his nanites purged from his system, but they are still Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 there somewhere. Oct 11, L. Now Ray tries to stop this murderer an Lemire does a different take on Bloodshot and it is awesome and not what any Bloodshot fans could have expected. Now Ray tries to stop this murderer and becomes Bloodshot one last time, just this time without superpowers. Why 5 stars: The story is very interesting. A different take on the Bloodshot character. The art is so amazing! The characters are interesting. The voices are surprisingly interesting, especially Bloodsquirt! Detective Festival is quite interesting as well. Lemire puts lots of suspense in his stuff, Bloodshot Reborn is no exception, twists everywhere. Bloodsquirt adds some twisted comic relief and is just hilarious. I honestly think Valiant needs to release an ongoing series of Bloodsquirt! Overall: This is great! I highly recommend reading this series! Oct 05, David Schaafsma rated it liked Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 Shelves: gn-superhero-scifi-fantasy. Leave it to Jeff Lemire to take a bloody killing machine created by the American government to kill bad guys and Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 him into a reluctant, reflective, tormented regular guy who just wants to be reunited with his dead lover and drink himself to sleep every night working in a sort of Bates Motel as a maintenance guy. But bad mass killers abound in Colorado, and they seem to be multiplying, in the guise of Bloodshot, only they are all bad, another government idea for saving the planet turned to Leave it to Jeff Lemire to Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 a bloody killing machine created by the American government to kill bad guys and turn him into a reluctant, reflective, tormented regular guy who just wants to be reunited Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 his Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 lover and drink himself to sleep every night working in a sort of Bates Motel as a maintenance guy. Bloodshot, only they are all Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1, another government idea for saving the planet turned Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 crap, so Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 Good Bloodshot needs to get reborn to kill all the Bad Bloodshots and make it a longer Valiant series, so here we are. Bloodshot is a character created with a lot of success ina ruthless killer full of rage, partly a rage for those who erased his memories, filled him full of little nanite bug machines who control his body and make him invincible. Watching this rage could be cool, I guess, if you like this sort of thing, but me, not so much. Okay, I liked the Dr Manhattan character in Watchmen, and I like the political criticism in both of these tales, that it is horrific turning men into killing machines for what the government says are noble purposes, which of course is what soldiers are. And Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1 seemingly good idea turns bad, almost always, of Bloodshot Reborn: Book 1. Who gets to play god? The government! And you want that, of course, this is what you pay your taxes for. So overall it's pretty good. It's okay. Lemire's writing is okay here, really. I like Lemire better when he does indie stuff, Sweet Tooth, Trillium, than his messing around with superheroes, which he doesn't do so well with, but I guess you gotta pay the bills. I prefer when Lemire draws his own stuff, too, though he is not going to be allowed to draw superhero comics, his drawing is too sketchy, not glossy enough, for the supe crowd.
