The EFP has prepared a substantial “toolkit” for its affiliated members, providing written, graphic, and video material for them to use, translate, and adapt. “The tradition of Gum Health Day is an important initiative of the EFP to promote periodontal health worldwide and our national societies are enthusiastic to contribute to its success,” said Lior Shapira, co-ordinator of Gum Health Day 2019.

The World Workshop, organised by the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and the EFP, took place in Chicago in November 2017 and the new classification was formally presented for the first time at EuroPerio9 on June 22, 2018. “The success of the new classification system approved by the EFP and the AAP will depend on whether we are able to instruct all general practitioners, specialists and students on how to implement this classification in the daily care of their patients,” said Prof Sanz, chair of the EFP workshop committee. “With this purpose, we have developed this toolkit containing simple documents, slides, videos and infographics with very clear instructions on how to use the new classification.” The toolkit includes a series of guidance notes on the new classification 8 Perio Master Clinic.
