CNC/IUGG: 2019 Quadrennial Report Geodesy and Geophysics in Canada 2015-2019 Quadrennial Report of the Canadian National Committee for the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics Prepared on the Occasion of the 27th General Assembly of the IUGG Montreal, Canada July 2019 INTRODUCTION This report summarizes the research carried out in Canada in the fields of geodesy and geophysics during the quadrennial 2015-2019. It was prepared under the direction of the Canadian National Committee for the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (CNC/IUGG). The CNC/IUGG is administered by the Canadian Geophysical Union, in consultation with the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and other Canadian scientific organizations, including the Canadian Association of Physicists, the Geological Association of Canada, and the Canadian Institute of Geomatics. The IUGG adhering organization for Canada is the National Research Council of Canada. Among other duties, the CNC/IUGG is responsible for: • collecting and reconciling the many views of the constituent Canadian scientific community on relevant issues • identifying, representing, and promoting the capabilities and distinctive competence of the community on the international stage • enhancing the depth and breadth of the participation of the community in the activities and events of the IUGG and related organizations • establishing the mechanisms for communicating to the community the views of the IUGG and information about the activities of the IUGG. The aim of this report is to communicate to both the Canadian and international scientific communities the research areas and research progress that has been achieved in geodesy and geophysics over the last four years. The main body of this report is divided into eight sections: one for each of the eight major scientific disciplines as represented by the eight sister societies of the IUGG. -

Subject: AIRCRAFT TIRE MAINTENANCE Date: 4/18/05 AC No.: 20-97B AND OPERATIONAL PRACTICES Initiated by: AFS-306 Change: 1. PURPOSE. This advisory circular (AC) provides recommended tire care and maintenance practices needed to assure the safety of support personnel and the continued airworthiness of aircraft. Specifically, this AC provides guidance on the installation, inflation, maintenance, and removal of aircraft tires. In addition, this AC provides guidance on those operational practices necessary to maintain safe aircraft operations. This AC is not mandatory and does not constitute a regulation. It is issued for guidance purposes and to outline acceptable tire maintenance and operational practices. In lieu of following this method without deviation, operators may elect to follow an alternative method that has also been found acceptable by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). 2. CANCELLATION. AC 20-97A, High-Speed Tire Maintenance and Operational Practices, dated May 13, 1987, is cancelled. 3. RELATED REGULATIONS AND DOCUMENTS. a. PART FOUR Investigations and Treatment 278 Monochromy, Polychromy, and Authenticity The Cloisters’ Standing Bishop Attributed to Tilman Riemenschneider Michele D. Marincola and Jack Soultanian 1975, Standing Bishop was acquired for The Cloisters collection, the Metropolitan Museum of IArt, New York. This piece—considered at purchase to be a mature work of Tilman Riemenschneider (ca. 1460–1531), a leading German mas- ter of Late Gothic sculpture—was intended to complement early works by the artist already in the collection. The sculpture (Fig. 1) is indisputably in the style of Riemenschneider; furthermore, its provenance (established to before 1907) includes the renowned Munich collection of Julius Böhler.1 The Standing Bishop was accepted as an autograph work by the great Riemenschneider scholar Justus Bier (1956), who was reversing his earlier opinion. It has been compared stylistically to a number of works by Riemenschneider from about 1505–10. In the 1970s, a research project was begun by art historians and conservators in Germany to establish the chronology and authorship of a group of sculptures thought to be early works of Riemenschneider. The Cloisters’ sculptures, including the Standing Bishop, were examined as part of the project, and cross sections were sent to Munich for analysis by Hermann Kühn. This research project resulted in an exhibition of the early work of Riemenschneider in Würzburg in 1981; The Cloisters sent two sculptures from its collection, but the loan of the Standing Bishop was not requested. Aircraft tire Engineering Data Introduction Michelin manufactures a wide variety of sizes and types of tires to the exacting standards of the aircraft industry. The information included in this Data Book has been put together as an engineering and technical reference to support the users of Michelin tires. The data is, to the best of our knowledge, accurate and complete at the time of publication. To be as useful a reference tool as possible, we have chosen to include data on as many industry tire sizes as possible. Particular sizes may not be currently available from Michelin. It is advised that all critical data be verified with your Michelin representative prior to making final tire selections. The data contained herein should be used in conjunction with the various standards ; T&RA1, ETRTO2, MIL-PRF- 50413, AIR 8505 - A4 or with the airframer specifications or military design drawings. For those instances where a contradiction exists between T&RA and ETRTO, the T&RA standard has been referenced. In some cases, a tire is used for both civil and military applications. In most cases they follow the same standard. Where they do not, data for both tires are listed and identified. The aircraft application information provided in the tables is based on the most current information supplied by airframe manufacturers and/or contained in published documents. It is intended for use as general reference only. Your requirements may vary depending on the actual configuration of your aircraft. Accordingly, inquiries regarding specific models of aircraft should be directed to the applicable airframe manufacturer. -

We went to the house of H. L. Stout Esq & found a cordial welcome. August 21st The day was warm. In the afternoon we rode out around the City with Mr. Stout. I went to the Lumber Yard Steamer Annie Girdon &c&c Sunday 22d Went to church twice to day with Mr. & Mrs. Stout. In the forenoon we heard a sermon from a stranger at the Cong.
